I had one guy buy two. I offered a 2nd chance from one he lost and he won a different one. The 2nd chance was for only 1 Lincoln cent less than the one he won.

Another guys has one up on ebay using a stock picture.....I'd be leary of that.

Probably say, he lost the dime...
    Or it was a presale..
Or just not say anything, take the money and flee the country... :D

No because the way seniorage works with coins is that once the coin is struck the seniorage or coinage profit is automatically entered into the books and then later transferred to the general fund in the Treasury even if the coins are still on hand. (With paper money the seniorage isn't taken until the notes are turned over to the Fed.) If the cons are melted down then that seniorage profit disappears and has to be taken back OUT of the general fund.

What would happen is the coins will go into that "Stratigic Coin Reserve" they are talking about, but they would probably continue to rotate out of the reserve in a FIFO inventory system. (Newly struck coins would enter the reserve and if the Reserve is at its intended level and new coins cme in the oldest ones would go out. That way the reserve is allways full of the most recent pieces.

If thats how it works out it could be years before 09's are widely seen then? Ive heard something similar in that many of the new coins could very well be sitting at the Fed Reserve waiting for older coins to come out.

The Fed used to operate under a LIFO inventory system (Last In First Out) and under that system if coins came in for awhile faster than they went out it was possible to get older coins buried back in the vaults for years and years untilcoinage slowdowns allowed them to come to light and suddenly large quantities of MS coins that were five or six years old would suddenly start appearing in pocket change. Then the Fed changed to the First In First Out system and now has little or nothing in their valuts other than fairly recent coins.

Cladking knows more about this than I do. When it come to modern material I am but an egg.

FIFO is not generally the way that the Mint works. Witness the Morgan Silver dollars that were released in the GSA sales of the 1970s. They continued to mint peace Dollars in the 1930s while they sat on the Morgans. LIFO (last in first out) is more the way that they work it appears and IIRC, I saw someone say that the Lincoln two-roll sets went out in this fashion (LIFO).

If they changed this, as Conder pointed out, I was unaware. I didn't think that there have been coins "in reserve" since the silver dollars, but maybe I completely misunderstand this. I guess I'll defer to Cladking and see what he says.

Well, my first buyer said that he "cannot afford" paypal right now and wants to cancel the transaction. I explained that paypal doesn't cost prior to him sending this note. I don't think he ever intended to pay. If you "cannot afford" paypal, a free service for buyers, why would you bid $49.02 on a 2009 dime?

If I cancel the transaction in Ebay, will it show that I withdrew a bid? I want to establish myself as a seller, so I'm not sure about doing that. I tried to open a case, but they wouldn't do it before 7 days after the bid. Should I just cancel it? Will it hurt the perception of me as a seller? Thanks....I'm new to ebay in the last 2 months and still learning....

Do an unpaid item claim. Ebay will take your side, after all its a zero feedback bidder

Make sure you block him from the nickel auction you have. I seriously got the impression from the start that he was just screwing around and never intended to pay.

I just "opened a case" with ebay. They say that I have to wait 7 days before it will close. I'm going to list the item again because I don't want to lose momentum on these dimes. I may even refer to is as the first dime on ebay to see if that carries any extra flare to it. Since I have an message from him asking me to cancel the transaction, I think I'm ok to do that, don't you think?

I just read the dispute stuff on ebay.....it looks like I should wait the 7 days before relisting...

Yup..you should get the relisting fees back I think.

On a side note my auction is absolutely insane.

    Here is the stats:

    77 Watchers
    12 Bids
    991 Views

And it has been bid up to $66.99

And what the heck...I have increased the donation from 10% to 15% as a thank you for a great response

$66? Congrats man. That is way more than my dime. I wonder why it is so much higher than the dime. How strange......but who could make any sense out of someone bidding so much for a current year coin....

I filed with ebay and he immediately accepted the cancelation (funny, he was never very good about answering my messages, lol). So, I'm free to post it up again. I have two up now, so I'll post THE ORIGINAL tomorrow after one of them closes.

Congrats again, and good luck with your gold mine, errrr, I mean nickels. :D

Well that doesn't surprise, once you get ebay or paypal involved, people respond to you real quick!

Please give us buyers ebay ID, so we can all block him.

    His ebay name is
    scottwhited2010

I don't understand why I can't even give him a negative review? What is up with that.....so he can just do the same to someone else? A negative rating might help, but I can't do that....

    Frustrating
