I'm taking these photos outdoors in bright sunlight with a not too steady hand. All comments are welcomed. Thanks in advance Bruce
It looks like an MS-63. The marks on Liberty's cheeks will likely prevent it from going any higher. Nice Morgan.
As a wild quess, I think the Obverse could be MS64. The marks seen are on Liberty's cheek and a minor mark @ 3:30 from lips do not appear to be anything substantial. The Reverse looks definitely MS65-66 although the Reverse is usually the better side of Morgans. What is apparent to me is, better photos will be needed if anything other than a wild guess is wanted.
Not too much chatter on the face, BUT I do see a scratch... Coin is beautiful, the breast feathers look to be pretty well defined actually. MS64 for me
This is a tough one. The face is exceptionally clean and looks to be a MS64. But that one scratch MAY bring the coin down to MS63. Very nice coin!
The reverse is flawless except for 2 minute contacts with the field, not the devices. The obverse does have a cheek mark plus minor contact marks. I'll take some better photos when my battery recharges. Bruce
I think this is a very nice coin. 1884-O is known for having a very wide range of strike quality. You can find full struck and weakly struck both pretty easy. So, this is one of those dates that doesn't fit the "always poor struck O mint stereotype." This coin has a solid strike, not 100% full but still a pretty good strike. I wouldn't knock it for that. The coin has nice luster and a few dings. I would call this a MS64...although it is very clean there are a couple marks in the focal areas which bring the grade down. I think the marks are just poorly located, had they been in other areas I could see this coin going higher. So, I'll say MS64.
I don't know about all those many MS-63's. I see many dings on the rim that might bring the coins grade even lower than that. It might be the sunlight but they look bad to me at 2:00 9:00 11:00 The coins fields though are very nice, I just don't like dings :thumb:
