Why don't I find any 2004 or later years in any of my searching for nickels, dimes, quarters, or half dollar rolls?
That's all I ever seem to find: 2001 and up. Especially 2006. I don't know what went on that year, but I bet half the coins I look at are from that year.
that's my concern, I find nothing passed 2001 in many denominations. Don't know where the newer ones can be found, but I'm new at this and a lot to learn.
How much have you searched? In my first box of pennies, and my first 10 rolls of nickels, I found TONS of post-2001 coins. Maybe as much as 1/2 of the total were newer than '01. If you've only searched a couple of rolls of each, statistically, you might only get older stuff, but the trend won't continue. Joe
I wish they were too.. lol I need to get me some 09 nickels... Can't wait until one pops up on ebay! I seem to find a lot of 06, 07 coinage, and a lot of coins from the 70's...
Kennedy Half Dollars I have had some luck finding recent years in quarters this weekend however still have found nothing in kennedy halves more recent than 2001. Anyone else have any luck finding and more recent years in their searching?
I have seen posts on numerous forums in which hardcore half dollar roll searchers report finding 2002 to present halves in their rolls. They are few and far between is the trend from what I gather. But you have to understand some of these hardcore half dollar roll searchers search boxes and boxes a week/month to get the silver halves. Those 2002 to present finds are just bonuses, pretty much. The only way 2002 to present halves get into circulation is the same way proof coinage gets into circulation. Either someone raids their collection or SOMEONE ELSES collection.
They stopped releasing the half dollar for circulation after 2001...so it is fairly uncommon to find them in rolls. There are some, people bought them from the mint and then spent them but they are rare.
I know you were not talking about cent rolls but I thought it might fit. I have a habbit of counting pre 1982 cents when I bust rolls. On averege I have been finding only 18 pre 1982's per roll. This is out of around 300 rolls I have busted so far (not counting the fluke wheat rolls I got a while back at the bank)
