What the best (reasonable priced) coin holders. I'm mainly collecting (picking thru bank boxes) half dollars. Thanks, Hal
thats a loaded question lol. The best holders are certainly not the cheapest. The worst type are the cheapest. Take a look at the last line in my sig. That link to a thread here on this forum has a TON of information on coin holders. It is a long read, but IMHO it is loaded with info, and a good source for much needed information. Once you know what to look for, picking a good holder is fairly easy
At this point I would suggest the non-PVC plastic flips as an inexpensive , yet fairly safe holder for your finds. No need yet to get the expensive alternatives until you find a coin that needs one. Jim
It depends what purpose you need the holders for. Are they to hold rolls of coins? To hold individual coins for storage? For display?
any flip or holder that is not PVC would be safe. dont be tricked by sellers saying that flips made from a for of non-plastized PVC is safe. ANY PCV holder, plastized or not are most certainly NOT safe to store coins of any value. true a common cent might not want to be put in an airtight or toehr expensive alternative, but at that point i would highly suggest a flip made from a safe material. weather or not the coin going into the holder has a hgh value or not, if the person wants to collect it and keep it in his collection, then i am sure he/she woudl certainly hate to see PVC damage on that coin years down the road. Common coin with no value or not.... it would bug the crap out of me to see green sludge eating my coin that i have saved for so many years.
thanks for the information Daggerjon. Your other thread about the holders was alot for me to take in. Will have to reread it again tomorrow, and will have a few questions for you, if you don't mind. Thanks, Hal
