My First Star Note

That's a nice set. I think those big solid stars look so much better than the later hollow stars.

I just got my first USN star...

not that i know of. i could certainly be wrong, but i thought the bep will only print notes where there is an order from a reserve bank. so when the reserve bank orders notes, the bep will print star notes to have on hand for when mistakes arise. once the star notes are printed, they keep the lowest serials for sets.

Maybe Numbers will be on to clarify one way or the other

I think there might have been a few exceptions....like the 2004A $10 star notes from Atlanta district and the $2 "Millennium Notes" which were star notes that began with 2000. I'm pretty sure there was also a special run of $2 star notes printed for the 2003 series.

 

here is the serial table for 2003 for the $2 note. all stars were for the I district, and the only normal note printed was for the I district. It looks to me that whatever stars used from that run were pulled from the normal run. Unless the notes you were talking about are not reported in that table.

on the 2004A $10 serial table, the atlanta district had:
GA 000 00001 *
GA 032 00000 * in November 2005

Again, unless the notes issued for the sets are not reported there, it looks like the notes they used were pulled from the normal runs.

 

Nope...stars were printed for every district for this set sold by the BEP....
