I'm happy for you!!! The Nickel is the only one and will bring quite a premium I believe.

    Good luck.

    rodzm,

I don't know if you would want to do it or not, but since you will have so many to sell, you can make a multiple item listing. You could sell 10 at a time or so, and that would make for less work for you in dealing with every listing. You can do it several ways, have people bid so many for the highest price, or have everybody able to purchase one for the same price as the winner.

Just a thought to try and save some time and hassle. I guess you could also sell rolls.

It also might help to get as many possible sold before other people find some and get their listed.

    Anyway, Good Luck!

    Chuck

Thanks Chuck, that actually sounds like a great plan. I was planning on doing rolls as well but at the same time I dont want to swamp the market with rolls just yet which makes the 10 at a time idea a much better way to sell them. Decisions, decisions...

I think that after seeing the dimes sell so well I may do a few single dime auctions or do the 10 at a time as well or even start with rolls. There is 90+ Mill dimes out there as opposed to 35+ mill for nickels. I think it will be a while beofre people start seeing rolls in their banks.

The piranhas are striking...the auction is at $26 already

You know what the coolest thing is so far??? Having a Thank you message from the director of programs of Veterans of Foreign Wars Headquarters.

my advice is not to do very many at a time. The fewer there seem to be for auction, the more people will enter into bidding wars.

You have the entire market cornered on nickels, follow Mike's advice. Dimes? It looks like there are a few of us....

So perhaps sell them by singles for a while? I mean with as many as I have coming in plus what my dad will be keeping this could very well be a small gold mine, at least for the next few weeks. I was reading on the Mint News Blog that it is possible that the majority of them may be sitting at the reserve and will not be seen by the masses for at least 8 months. How accurate that is I dont know but with the amount of coins out there, finding them in rolls will not be an easy task.

I mean you have only found dimes here and here (and thats over 96M of them) there is no sign anywhere of nickels. Even Michael at the Mint News Blog has asked many people and still no luck.

hard to say how accurate the report is because the Mint stores coins by denomination irrespective of year. They just don't pay any attention to the date.

keep it slow at first, maximize your profits, then more quickly. If you could get a roll, that would sell for a ton.

I noticed you took you comment from the Mint blog, why? Did Mike contact you to remove it? PM me if necessary....

why would I ask anyone to remove anything? I am not a moderator... but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Well i just didnt get a response so I thought it to be irrelevant, I just wanted to give him more details on the whole thing and perhaps he can have a good explanation how the nickels and dimes turned up in a US territory rather than in big cities.

Right now it is great news that I have them on the way but since there is no picture then there is not much reason to give it coverage. I think its rather interesting that out of all places they were found in a territory, I mean what are the chances right???? I have contacted Michael via Coin Network so maybe he will reply.

    $49 for the dime. Pretty cool. 49X 50 = $2450 a roll

It makes you wonder how many large bags of nickels and dimes are out there, possibly just sitting in a bank vault waiting to be distributed. I think the key is to keep this as quiet as possible. Once the general public realizes what's going on, they'll start asking at their banks and then word will get out. There really aren't that many people who are aware of the demand for these coins.
