can a slight bend dramatically affect the value of a coin? This is the coin I'm talking about. I'm gonna try to get an uncirculated one eventually, just curious.

Yes, it can. Half Dime's are really thin and small, so the bends in them are common but still bring the value down.

You could usually undo a bend, but you have to be very careful when doing it. I'm sure you can find some info on the web on how to do it carefully. ;)

lol, nice. I'm getting a unc/bu one eventually, maybe I'll try. (will definitely do some research into it first though)
    thanks

I believe a bend is considered a major fault for a coin.
Probably sufficient to keep it from ever being graded by a TPG.

It is fairly cheap to buy high AU half-dimes. About a year ago I bought NGC AU-58 1858 for $100. So just wait a little while and one just right for you will pop up.:D

I agree, particularly about the "waiting for the right one" policy.
I've got five SL half dimes for my type set ranging from XF-45 to AU-55.
Took a while to find them, but it was worth the wait.
Now I don't have to think about replacing them later.
I got the coins I wanted the first time around.
