I bought this on ebay tonight. This pic is from the auction, havent seen the coin in person. I dont think there is much if any corrosion. Obviously the biggest problem is the scratch. But, that being said, are these details VF or XF?

WOW! Great details! That coin is very very nice!!
I'd say with the scratch maybe a VF35? I don't know, I'm not an expert in this field, I just wanted to give you a compliment on the coin! WOW!

I bought it because it was a $200 buy it now and that seemed like a great deal for an uncorroded nicely detailed coin.

It replaces this one in my type set.

I'm going to say VF details. There is too much wear in the hair and the drapery for it to be XF IMHO.

I am just praying for no corrosion! I think its VF-35 or XF-40. But, leaning towards 35.

Actually, if you use the ANA standards that's not too far off. I think it might be a bit higher than 20...but not a lot.

That is one of the funniest replies, I think I've ever read...

    I think it is a VF20

    Oh no thanks...

    LOL!!!
That was hilarious! I needed a good laugh!!!

Look at the coins you posted. The slabbed 30 and 35 examples have a ton of detail in the hair above the ear. They also have good detail in the drapery on the shoulder. The slabbed 20 coin does not. Your coin more resembles the 20 coin in these areas which are the focal spots of wear on the obverse.

I'm leaning more towards a VF25, seeing those coins...
You still have a very nice coin, and it is a good upgrade

    I think VF25 is a fair grade for this coin...I just don't think it's a 30.

I think mine matches the 30 perfectly. The fact that the one I posted in 20 is in a slab makes me think I should send mine in. That thing looks like it was severely cleaned!

But with that scratch that yours has...

I wouldn't send yours. I'd expect it would come back without a grade because of the scratch.

I wouldnt send it anyway. Its for an album. But, I was just trying to make the point that the last one in VF20 looks like it belongs less in a slab than mine.

When I get that thing, expect a major photo upgrade also!
