*Warning angry rant to follow* Lol so here it goes. So I win a real nice 1854 large cent on Heritage. So after 2 days I check the tracking online, and it's says arrival at Unit (Which means it's at the local Post Office), now this is around 8 in the morning, so I expect it to be at my house when I get home. Well I get home and hmmm no package delivered, (Both my parents where home the whole day), so I check the website, and it still says arrival at unit, No problem, this has happened before, I figure it just arrived to late to go out with the regular mail. So I go to the post office, and they say it's not there and should have been delivered already, this is at 3:00. So I just say what ever I'll get it tomorrow. Here's where it gets fun, I check the tracking online at 6 P.M and it says delivered . So I go to the Postice Office first thing the next morning, and they say nope it's not here, ask the mailman. Haha so I ask the mailman and he says he doesn't remember delivering anything to my house, no crap that's the problem :headbang:. So anyway now (A week and 2 days since it claims to be delievered), the package never showed up. I'm fighting with the post office because they say the package wasn't insured :headbang:. Right now I'm waiting for the Heritage supervisor to call me back. Anyone have a problem like this, any tips would help, thanks. Btw here's the Missing/Stolen coin, stinks because it was the exact date and grade I was looking for, cert pop is only like 14 between PCGS and NGC. Lol let me know if you ever see it 1854 Large Cent MS 61 BN NGC 3234261-007
That stinks. The USPS problem, not the coin. :smile I had a post officce problem a few months ago that was a giant pain in the neck. They're great 99.9% of the time but when something goes wrong they will scramble to cover their butts all the way from the local postmaster to the letter carriers. If the coin wasn't insured I don't think there's much you can do. Around here, if you put up too much of a fuss - like filing an official complaint - the post office retaliates. Mail gets delayed for a week or 2. You go 4 out of 5 days a week with no mail. If you ask they say they're paying "extra attention" to your mail. Good luck.
I don't remember just when, bet we went through this before with a package from Heritage - very high dollar. All shipments from Heritage are insured. I do not remember who insures, but rest assured that they are. Maybe the cave troll will be around to confirm this, but I am basically paraphrasing him.
That really sucks! :headbang: This was a really nice coin too! How much did it cost you? And will you get a refund if not ever found? I have a problem like this. I ordered a Washington Token and it's been 3 months now and still not received
OUCH! This sucks dude! Sorry to hear about it! I don't know, I'm guessing Heritage will refund you... Man, that coin is really nice, I hope USPS is just being dumb, and they have it for you... Really, I have never encountered a problem quite like this before... Best of luck to ya
It cost about $200 with the 12.80 shipping that INCLUDES insurance. I know it was insured, Heritage knows it was insured, just waiting on the geniuses who lost the package to figure that out. I just don't know exactly how to file the claim, or with who, since the USPS is saying there's no insurance on it.
Heritage is the insured. i.e., the insurance will be paid to them. They have to file the claim. You have to notify them.
Thats been a while, but I remember it too. It was a package worth thousands of dollars that was supposedly left on the guys doorstep at a big apartment complex. Eventually the guy got a refund from Heritage. I'm going to PM TheCaveTroll about this thread.
That does suck! I am sure heritage will post a claim, but give them time. The one I went through(with USPS) took at least 3 months. First you had to wait 30 days then the seller filed the claim, then because of the $ amount it had to go to Chicago, then it took a couple of months to process before I got my money back. Good luck!
Thanks everyone for the help, looks like I just have to wait and see what the rep from Heritage says. Damn USPS, I guess Delivery Conformation and Tracking isn't enough anymore, going to need Signature Conformation from now on.
:secret: ... that's weird... it just showed up in my mailbox today... All joking aside, that sucks. Hope you can work it out with heritage. Looks like a really nice coin too (and that's not to make you feel even worse, just saying you have good taste in coins).
lol So that's where it is, I would say just mail it back to me, but it would probably just end up "missing" again. All I know is someone in my town has got it, and it's either the mailman, or who ever the heck he delivered it to. Hey maybe well get a person on here soon asking how much a 1854 penny is worth because they just "inherited" one.:goofer:
I was supposed to have signature confirmation on my 4 digit paper purchase and the carrier just stuffed it in my mailbox :hammer:. They could clearly see the my front door was open and hear that I was home.
Was the package from Heritage just "insured" or was it "Registered Insured" ? After my dealer friend in town had a $5000 coin "lost " from a damaged "insured only" package 3 months ago, he has gone through a horrible time, with the P.O. basically saying, prove it was in the package and that it was worth the price. He found his old bill of sale ( which was for less, since he was trying to make a profit), so then he had to get an appraisal ( hard to do if you don't have the actual coin), and still the P.O. says , not enough, prove that specific coin was enclosed. How do you do that ? The P.O. said if it was Registered, and the same thing happened, there would be no problem with the pay out. Does any know if this is the case? Jim
We just received a bunch of stamps from another coin dealer Thursday at work (yeah we do stamps too). Priority mail as in 2-3 days. Ummmm..... it took ten! Good luck fighting with the USPS.
Maybe Heritage, and others, should look into something called FedEx or UPS. It think the only way to get the attention of the USPS is for them to loose 50% of their business. But wait, nevermind, its the government, their subsidy would just increase. :rolling:
I don't believe it was Registered Insured, it probably would have said that on the USPS tracking site, it only had Delivery Conformation. Lol yesterday was fun first USPS says it wasn't insured speak with Heritage, and then the lady at Heritage says no priority mail has a 2,500 insured limit so ask to file a claim with USPS. So I call the Post Office back and they say no priority mail doesn't have insurance, maybe Heritage has there own insurance deal worked out, so USPS say Heritage has to file the claim. So I call Heritage back and the rep says No Heritage doesn't file the claims I have to file it with the Post Office :headbang:. She said she would speak with her manager and get back to me. Hopefully today I can at least find out who I should file a claim with. I'll let you guys know what happens.
Good luck. The truth is it wasn't lost. It was stolen Just like my box of DVD's that they have yet to pay me my insurance on. B@$@@@#$! Trust me I know I'm not getting my DVD's back or the insurance money! Yet they raise their rates again & theft from the post office has been increasing. *sigh*
