The chances are a little better than the loto! LOL MS67's are hard to find in banked wrapped rolls..If any of you don't believe me, go, try it, get the nicest one you have certified, and tell me when PCGS send you an email about your MS65
I thought by now someone would have told me I made a big mistake. But here is my logic step by step (consider this training also for justifying the things we do): #1- I have no intention of ever selling the coins, but I do like it when a coin(s) become worth more than what I paid, and I'll be the first to admit it. I have no use for the rolls since selling is not what I do. Hard to enjoy looking at a roll for me. But, for others whatever their intention is blongs to them and I hope they enjoy it. #2- After saying the above it makes more sense to me to pay what I paid for two certified coins than spend more than that for the rolls. That is just me, if the rolls suit you better than go for it. #3- Let's suppose a year from now the coins are worth 50% less than what I paid for them. If I sold them at that price, which won't happen, that would mean a loss of less than $20.00. Can anyone here say they have ever spent $20.00 they shouldn't have? #4- This is my son's first year in coin collecting. All the hype about Lincoln this year is the first time he has ever been exposed to something like this in coin collecting. I'm sure (I hope) when these coins become his and his younger brother he will remember all the time him and I spent talking about these coins and Lincoln himself. He has also taken it upon himself to do some reading on Lincoln, slavery, and the Civil War.
Well, this is a pretty good time for your son to be collecting... Hope he learns a lot and has fun And yeah I can agree with number one, I don't like to stare at a roll... Like the people who collect the OBW rolls, if it was me, I'd rip those babies open, and get em' graded If these don't get into circulation, like any other penny, than these might not go down in value, but I can't see that happening... These will go down in value, sooner or later
The going down, are you referring to the rolls, individual raw, certified or all? I agree the rolls and individual raws will go down. I'm not saying it just because I bought them, but how much can a pair of coins NGC certified go down from less then forty bucks to begin with?
MS68's and up certified, will go up... The 67's will go down eventually... The rolls, might stay about the same... The singles will go down
See, thank goodness we all don't think alike. I don't see any way these rolls will remain at these prices. Everything I said about in my previous post is true. But, also there is (just for fun) a speculation part of this that is quite fun. I never purchased a coin with a speculation angle before except that wrong reverse '08 ASE. But, I collect ASE's anyway and I really wanted it. I could sell it now on ebay for double what I paid for it, but have no intention of selling it. I do enjoy it is worth more than what I paid. I will more than likely at this point get an entire set of the Lincoln Cents in slabbed condition. I only own three other slabbed coins, so a little extra variety here also. Because for one thing if these two go down that should mean the remaindrs I can get cheaper than I paid for these.
Well, I'm thinking most of the rolls would be opened...And OBW rolls, with the stamps, and mint rolls might go down slightly, but for the most part, will stay the same...
LOL! You know if you can make a profit from something bought on HSN.... THEY HAD TO HAVE MESSED UP IN PRICING.. LOL
I have two pcgs 2009 D ms67RD's for sale on one auction on eabay as of 5-20-2009 I love the over inflated market. I found them in my first 4 rolls. I also found 8 MS66RD's all pcgs what luck!
Good job bigeye....PCGS is very tough on these. I have only gone thru "P" rolls so far. I have 1 sealed box of "D"'s that I will go thru later. The "P"s are in terrible shape....1 or 2 MS66's if your lucky per roll... I got about another 80 rolls of "P"s to do...I know its a 67 in those rolls its just gotta be !!! Again good job, your gonna make BIG $$MULLA$$:high5:
