I am not the expert, but XF and toned means AT to me.

Kinda looks like somebody got a marker, and colored in...
I am not good with toned coins, although I can spot some AT from NT coins
I say that this coin looks artificial...

Don't be so hasty with buying coins...
I used to be like this, just going to coins and paper money, and buying whatever I could find..
I hope you are taking everything we say into consideration, just be patient, look around...
Find a nice mercury dime, maybe with three or four days left, just keep it in your watch list, and buy it, if the coin is still low in three days time
    NEVER chase a coin
It is best to let coins go, and wait for a better one. :)

You can get a nice set of mercury dimes, graded, MS65's usually go for around $20-$30 just depends on date

The coin appears real. I'm not so sure about the toning. For $1.31 + shipping, it isn't a bad deal either way....Mike

Now if we could only get you to change your silly signature, we'd be getting somewhere. ;)

Seriously, and I know I speak for the rest of the folks who have responded to your thread(s) -- you are welcome. :)

WELL I KNOW WHICH TPG YOU LIKE BEST.. LOL :hammer:

PCGS normally gets a little freaked out, when they see an altered surface, whether it be AT or NT
NGC grades about every NT coin you send in, and sometimes those AT get through...

Although, they both grade toners, NGC is better with toned coins, IMO, and they look better in NGC holders!

PCGS just better for resale purposes...
They really are about the same.. :)

That coin is most certainly fake toned. It looks like it was done with that silver toner you used to be able to buy on ebay. Look at the 42d he has listed. Same color but he put the toner on in different areas (probably with an artist brush). Also have a look at this one he already sold. He is getting a bit better but not much.

When you see a toned coin for sale on ebay. Always look at what the seller is selling or has sold.

This one is an almost for sure AT coin never seen a NT coin toned in segments like the '43-S .

    Most definitely artificially toned.

No you don't -- because I don't "like" one more than the other. ;)

IMO, those generalizations aren't accurate, and even if they were, they are useless at best and a crutch for the uninformed at worst. It's about the individual coin, not the TPG.

Think what you want, but notice the majority of coins that I've seen in the marketplace, that are toned, have been graded by NGC... And a lot of toned coins, that got rejected from PCGS, got graded by NGC...

Do not be fooled by what you see in the marketplace versus what the TPGs are doing. Said another way, don't assume the distribution of coins between TPGs is even -- the submitters/crackout artists know better what's going on and their intent is to maximize profit.

However, judging by your tone you're not willing to listen to me, so I bid you good luck in buying/selling coins based on (what I believe to be) mistaken TPG generalities and I suspect you'll have a greater apprecation of what I'm saying when it comes time to sell.

    Respectfully...Mike
