I decided I don't like any of type set albums and want to customize my own but I still like the aesthetic appeal of albums. So I'm thinking I'll get one of THESE blank Dansco binders, with a bunch of THESE 2x2 pages to put in it. The problem is I don't like the 2x2 staple cardboard flips, or most other cheap flips. I think they are great for temporary storage but look trashy when it comes to showing off / displaying. I think that THESE Intercept Shield 2x2 holders would be perfect but I'm concerned they would be too thick to fit in the 2x2 pages. What do you think?
Certainly a lot to spend on coin supplies, but anything to keep your babies preserved right? I just have a regular binder, with 1.5x1.5 vinyl pages, with 1.5x1.5 coin flips to house all the coins.. Although I don't have a lot of raw coins, I sold most of my raw coins, so I could get graded coins... I keep those graded coins in the PCGS and NGC storage boxes
They might be slightly more pricey than some other storage albums, but when it comes to proper storage, it's hard to justify skimping on something cheap and questionable. You have to ask yourself, are you willing to pay more for a good storage medium, of have to replace coins because you bought something inferior? Guy~
Vinyl=PVC=Polyvinyl chloride=damage to coins... Not the best idea. For raw coins these http://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/product/intercept-shield-double-row-2x2-storage-box.html and these http://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/product/saflips-2x2.html For slabbed coins this http://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/product/intercept-shield-pcgsngc-track-box.html or that http://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/product/intercept-shield-double-protection-box.html Then throw everything else in this. :thumb: http://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/product/intercept-shield-proofmint-set-box.html Garrett
You know this is one good site for coin supplies... I'd been using the coinsupplystore.com BUT This seems a lot better
The 2x2 intercept shields are suppose to fit in one of the eagle binders. I use airtites, so I have never tried it. I think there was a post in this forum.
The IS 2x2s are excellent but I don't use them for everything I have. I only use them for really decent coins with luster remaining that I want to keep that way. Maybe they'd be good for old copper too. Other than that, I wouldn't put every silver quarter, merc dime, buffalo nickel, etc, etc... in an IS 2x2. They're a little too pricey to do that and there isn't much point.
to clear some things up, I am NOT suggesting I will put every coin I have in an interceptsheild holder. I agree that would be too expensive and unnecessary. I'm talking about a setup for the type set I'm working on, which includes coins valuable enough to be worth the high-end storage. I don't like the Dansco7070 because there's just certain coins it does not include that I want to include, and theres other coins and varieties it includes that I may not put in. I just want some flexibility to customize it while maintaining the album appeal and good protection. I looked into direct fit airtites or kointains, but the only album i've found that holds airtites I don't like, and I haven't found an album that you can insert kointains into. I could use this setup. But I like the Dansco a lot better so I'd like to figure out if something like those IS holders would fit into the Dansco pages.
Sounds good to me... Ya know what you are doing... Just try not to overspend, don't want to spend tons on coin supplies, than not have any coins... LOL Good luck
