picked from one of the $25 boxes of cents I picked up from a local bank. Is this a cracked die? The line seen is UPRAISED, not indented, and extends from above and to the right of the E in liberty, thru the E, out the bottom left, and continues all the way to the bottom of Lincoln's overcoat. One small, parallel section above the B in liberty. If a cracked die, does it get a premium or is it still just 1 cent? Oh btw, I ordered my second-in-the-series 2009 Lincoln cents... did you????
It sure could be! a better photo would help. but it would not make it worth anymore that a cent. *but maybe a keeper to just as coin to keep to remind yourself what air or polish line are.
It definitely is not a Die Crack or IMO, a Die Scratch! As mentioned earlier, it could be a result of a gas bubble or other but appears to be caused by a problem with the Copper plating adhering to the Zinc core. The longer line also runs all the way through the shoulder of Lincoln's coat and besides the smaller line, there appears to be some sort of scoring (abrasion) Southwest of the lines and to a lesser extent to the Northeast of the lines. My best guess is that the Zinc planchet was damaged and/or contaminated before the Copper plating was applied. Frank
