    The Coin TV Shows?

    SHOP NBC COIN SHOPPE
    and HSN COIN COLLECTOR

I know these shows are complete ripoffs, you don't have to tell me, but I enjoy watching them, infact, it is 3:48 AM in San Antonio right now, and I'm watching Coin Shoppe...
I love watching these shows, they might not give good deals, but give some pretty good information about coins... Except for Alan Skantze, we call him the "dealbreaker" Mike Mezack has you drawn in, and then Skantze ruins it! LOL

So does anybody else watch these shows, not to buy, but to see how ridiculous their prices REALLY ARE, and watch to have a little fun. :)

I can take about five minutes of watching before I have to change the channel due to the fact that I am tempted to throw something at the TV.

Those informercials are big ripoffs as well :)
"The uncirculated morgan dollar" "Random Date" "Pure silver" "Silver will hit $100" "Only $69.95"
    LOL :D

I used to watch the shows for fun, but I enjoyed it untill I realized that they were lying about their coins. It is one thing to over-charge(rip-off) but when you downright LIE I don't want anything to do with it. I haven't watched one of those shows in about 3 years.

    Yeah, lying happens... lol
Being serious, I can't remember them lying about their stuff... I've been watching this show for the last three hours, and no lies so far... :)

Yes whenever I can't find a program on deadly snakes I watch them slither around like as they spout that crap. It's kind of like watching golf or fishing programs - the pure insanity of them relaxes me for some reason.

Sharks and snakes relax me too, 'specially when I know they're on the other side of the window.......;)

Its been several years back but it had something to do with Morgan dollars, thats all I remember. All that I remember is that they lied.

Every once in a while when I'm flipping through channels at 3 in the morning I'll stop and watch to see what kind of coins they are offering. These coin shows seem to bend the truth in my opinion. Did some one mention snakes?

I'll occasionally watch some of those shows. I like how they make every coin out to be rare and valuable. They could be holding a 1996 D Lincoln in vf and claim it's a $90 coin because you just don't see these, or they don't mint these anymore, or some other line of garbage. Once in a while they have some genuinely nice coins on their shows...but at prices at least three times what you'd pay anywhere else.

I watch them all, there is so little I like on TV I watch none of them live, record them all and watch them when I get an opportunity. I do have to say HSN is a much better operation than SHOPNBC. Their sets and items I think are well done, never bought anything, but well done. I can see where their show would sell a lot of coins and it is amazing how many sometimes hundreds of thousands of dollars of coins they sell in two or three hours. Two things they both have in common besides high prices are the references they make to grandpa and grandma to buy for their grandkids and the rareness of every thing they have. We all know they are high and stretch things, but you can't say they are not successful.

"Only $49 on the credit card gets this home... Maybe you have a special birthday, or somebody graduated, and mom's day, dad's day...This is perfect. You don't have many perfect coins, and if you give this to your family member, maybe your dad or mom, and they just say wow, because they got perfect gold..."

I love those shows, but for all the wrong reasons... lol the idea that they're actually getting away with those prices is just so wrong. BUt if people are willing to pay it and not complain, then so be it.
