Found this elusive coin on Ebay but couldn't buy it because it costed a fortune. This is one of my favorite coins because of the history that goes along with this. The Rupees dated 1911 were rejected by the public because the elephant, on the order of the Indian Empire shown on the King's robe, was thought to resemble a pig, an animal considered unclean by most indians. Out of a total of 9,4 million pcs. struck, only 700,000 were issued, and many of these were withdrawn and melted with unisssued pieces.
Believe me, It was very tempting. Rarely have I seen this coin at this grade. I almost clicked the button, carried away by the hyptonic effect, but came to my senses and decided to wait until another comes by with a reasonable price tag on it. Do any of you have this coin?
This nice picture was taken by somebody else since I cannot take good enough pictures. The coin and picture belong to me though. :goofer:
rumor has it, the swine flu has hit the price of this one and its gonna crash faster than the stock markets
