The contest will start at 8PM mountain time Saturday (05/09/2009), this will allow for a few hours to figure out he rules and ask questions, since I am new to this and I think you will be as well. It will end on Monday (05/11/2009) at 6PM mountain time, all based on CT time stamps. At that time winners will be determined and I will post screen shots. And, I’ll try and make it as complicated as possible :smile OK, on to how you play, don’t get up caught in the details, I’ll take care of that, I think, but I’ll explain as well as I can, here we go. Pick your 3 cards for each place (do not pick x for 'any suite'). Take for example 1) below, if only one person picks As they win, if two or more people have As only those people move on. If no winner is determined, the person who has Ax Kh wins, if it is still a tie, the person who has Ax Kx 2s wins, still no winner? Next up would be Ax Kx 2x. Then we would move on to column two, in the same manner as previously described, then on to column three. If it’s still a tie, then we will use the tiebreaker cards in the same manner, in order from left to right. I will use the Playing Card Shuffler on random.org to determine the winners. I will draw 5 cards for each place using 5 decks, and determine the winners as outlined above, so it is possible that all the cards could be the same value and suite. Prizes are as follows: 1st: (1) PCGS MS66 1943S cent / (1) 2009 P cent / (1) 2009 D cent 2nd: (1) 1959D cent / (1) 1960 cent / (1) 2009 P cent / (1) 2009 D cent 3rd: (1) 1960 cent / (1) 2009 P cent / (1) 2009 D cent 4th: (1) 2009 P cent / (1) 2009 D cent 5th: (1) 2009 P cent / (1) 2009 D cent Example (three cards): 1) As Kh 2s(for 1st place) 2) 2d 9c Jh (for 2nd place) 3) Tc Qs 4d (for 3rd place) 4) Jh 7s Ks (for 4th place) 5) 5c 6c 9h (for 5th place) Tiebreaker cards: Ad Kh Please try to use the same format as shown so I can copy and paste into Excel and use text to columns and a filter. Enter only once, only the first card selection entry will be used. Abbreviations: A=Ace 2 – 9=those card values J=Jack Q=Queen K=King s=spade c=club h=heart d= diamond x=any suite Pictures of prizes: I realize these aren't the best pics but here they are. PCGS MS66 1943s The bag I'm digging through makes my hands look I've been digging in a garden, hence the pair of pics of the same coin. In hand the coin looks in-between. I've experimented with dropping them in acetone and rinsing with water and they look much better, but the coin you receive will not be altered in anyway. I'll leave that to you if you desire, I'm throwing in a 1960 for second place to make sure you are satisfied.
My thought was that you could post your cards in the open, I mean, if everyone picks all the same cards then no one will win. Pick 3 cards for each place, 3 for 1st, 3 for 2nd, 3 for 3rd, 3 for 4th, and 3 for 5th. Plus 2 cards for the tiebreaker, as shown in the 'example' above.
Let me see if I understand this. We each choose 3 cards. You generate 5 sets of cards randomly and select the winners accordingly. So its pretty much all luck. Just like if you were dealing from decks of cards. Do I understand this correctly?

Sorry if I made it confusing, but yes, spock has it correct as do those that followed. It's basically a graphical representation of 3 columns of the numbers 1-52. I'll draw a set of 5 cards for 1st, a different set of 5 cards for 2nd, and so on. So yes it's all luck in trying to match what the number generator will come up with. Feel free to ask more questions or edit you posts. I had a hold'em game set up but it was really complicated and would have taken me a day to type it out.
