I am not a coin dealer and never was nor am I an expert, but I have sold coins on eBay in the past. Usually when we needed extra money for bills. Depending on the coin, it would be described as either a novelty, error or variety. There were a few occassions where I listed a coin as a variety but put a disclaimer in the description stating I was not an expert and that the coin had not been professionally attributed. In one case, Billy Crawford bought one of those coins for a couple of bucks and emailed me a few days after receiving the coin to tell me it was a new doubled die variety and gave me the new listing number. He said he was going to include it in his new book as well. This might have been around 5 or 6 yrs ago. I of course was never credited for the find because I sold it before it was attributed. I basically sold my rights to it. Anyway, I listed it with some certainy that it was a genuine variety but still put in the disclaimer. I haven't sold a coin on ebay in several years, but if I do again, I will only sell coins that I am 100% sure are the real mCoys. I have always been amazed at not the buyers and the weird things they buy, but the sellers and some of their over the top, blow-up descriptions of stuff that is worth nothing. And they are selling the stuff.

Now that you have slapped Jess's hand and made your point ..How would you describe the 1993-D as shown....die clash ...post mint
If a tree fell in the woods and no one was there to hear it . Would it make a noise.
In Jess DID have a new die variety and the 'big boys" had not found it yet .Would it still be a new variety.............just a thought

Anyways, It is a variety of the original. I don't care what you guys say. That is what the definition of variety is-"different form of a thing". It is different from what the original is. Now, I may be wrong for using the word"die", but I sold this about six months ago, and have learned a lot since then. I am not even sure if that is what I labeled it as. To get back on track, the point I was making was not to pass up every coin, because you never know what you are going to miss. So, I will continue to "look to hard", because that is how every other error and variety was found in the first place. People like us paying to much attention to detail. And just like Edinmem said, maybe it was a new error. I was probably stupid for selling it in the first place.:D

If you don't care what we say why keep soliciting our advice?

Attitude is everything in life and making up opinions as you see them while discounting what others tell you is the fastest way I know to develop an "unteachable mind" - if that's what you want to do you have, with your above comments "told on yourself".
Look, we have been very kind and helpful albeit honest at times to you - people have went out of their way to help you - I know that for a fact!
I respect a person that admits they have been wrong - I run from a person that will not.
If I'm not mistaking 6 months ago you didn't know a true doublED die from a manhole cover and now your trying to defend that lack of knowledge?
You may need to step back and remember this: "Contempt prior to investigation leads to nothing, nothing at all"!

My post on this thread deals more with what it is ...not what it is not...I agree it is not a DDR "as we all do". The 1993-D in question appears to be in MS so I would rule out post mint damage. Nothing on the obv matches so we rule out a clash. The position/location would lead me not to think die crack/chip. So lets all be nice and post what you think may be the cause of this anomaly. I would like to hear some theories just for my own knowledge

I guess I should have been more clear on my last post.. I was just trying to defend my self from the posters who were trying to say that I was wrong for selling the 93 D as a DD. No where did I state that I did not appreciate and positive constructive criticism from any of you guys. But, that withstanding, I am not going be known as someone who will knowingly sell a coins or coins in an unprofessional way. You guys have gotten off track here from what was being discussed. You guys are acting like I ripped some guy off. That was what I said by saying ,"I don't care what you think". The coin I listed was a good variety no matter how you think. If you have some more information to state otherwise, then show me. That is how you learn. You don't learn by being criticized negatively. People tend to be pushed away by that. So, yes I do appreciate the help you guys give, but some of you guys tend to "go for the throat" first, before asking questions. Sorry:bow:
