Lately I've been shopping for some quarter eagles gold peices from abut 1910 - the inclused versions. Does anyone have a link to some decent deals? Ruben

Ruben, I'm sorry that I can't help you with the quesiton on where to find good deals on these coins (and would likely respond to that question with "do you want nice coins OR good deals?"), but please consider this: This series is difficult enough to grade in-hand, much less from photos. In fact, I would venture to say it is the MOST difficult series to grade in all of US coinage. As far as collecting them, you must also be careful with puttied examples. Bottom line: Please approach this series with caution. Good luck...Mike
Thanks Mike - This one might still interest me though For less than $200 it might be worth the risk? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220410190143&_trkparms=tab=Watching Do you like Barbie Halfs better?
are u a gambler or a coin collector? as mike said dont buy before looking at them in hand/ or froma trusted dealer. if you are looking for a trusted dealer i can put in touch but no there wont be any deals
Hey Spock, I suspect Ruben can view this coin in-hand -- look at the location of the dealer. Ruben, I can't really tell from the photos about the coin itself. The pics suck -- bad enough that I wouldn't risk shipping, but I suspect you are in a slightly different position... As for your question (do I like barber halves)... Yeah, I like the series. Putting together a set of circulated original Barber halves in XF is a real challenge (far harder than a set of incluse gold). However personally I like incuse gold better. Regardless, I just think you should be very careful with incuse gold at AU/MS levels -- they are not a series to "jump" into. Although I like the idea of collecting them in XF grades as it really limits your downside (i.e they can be bought for relatively little above spot), I would suggest a long study period before buying too much. Hope this helps...Mike
Its in an ANACS slab by a dealer with a 98.+ rating and a gazillion sales. Spock you are SO thick sometimes I can kick you. Ruben
Well, this Barbie Half seems to be in excellent shape if not dipped a bit heavily http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...K:MEWAX:IT&item=260406347339#ebayphotohosting
Hate it -- WAY overdipped. IMO, we should take note of this coin's appearance as a coin to RUN away from.
p.s. here's what you should look for in terms of XF-AU barber coinage, IMO: Good luck finding them, though.
Yeah - that is a pretty coin. Do you think the other one is over priced for the dip? The strike is still excellent and it seems to have some mechanical doubling. Ruben
