I have been doing some work on the Coin Collecting Wiki, but I can't make it into the resource it should be on my own. I thought a little incentive might help get some new contributors involved. So I am running this competition. What to do: Write an article or develop an existing stub article on the Coin Collecting Wiki http://coincollecting.wikia.com/ Post here to explain what you have done and include a link to your contribution. The competition will end on 30 April 2009 which will give you plenty of time to plan a really good contribution. The article that I like the best will receive the prize. The Prize: A small collection of Second World War British coins all dated 1943. Includes one of each of: Halfcrown Florin Scottish Shilling English Shilling Sixpence Brass Threepence Halfpenny The only coin missing is the penny. The Silver coins are 50% silver. They are not in excellent condition but are certainly of collectable quality. Good luck to all entrants.
I have added Icelandic coins http://coincollecting.wikia.com/wiki/Icelandic with subcatagories Periods http://coincollecting.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Periods and errors/varieties http://coincollecting.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Errors. Will add more as time allows.
Figured I would give this a go. Added all the information I knew on the Jefferson Nickel: http://coincollecting.wikia.com/wiki/Jefferson_Nickel
Yes indeed; the contest is over and I'll announce a winner either today or Wednesday. Watch this space.
y not declare me a winner for not participating - you know there are some people who are better when they are not contributing
I have two contributions that I like very much. As I only have one set of the coins that I have offered as the prize I cannot have two winners.
OK, the decision is made: The two excellent contributions from which I had to choose were; raider34 - Morgan Silver Dollars wiggam007 - Jefferson Nickels Both articles are very well written and are valuable contributions to what I hope will be a fantastic resource for the coin collecting community. I still can't see one article as being better than the other so I had to refer back to the contest rules; "Post here to explain what you have done and include a link to your contribution." Sorry raider34, your contribution was excellent but the overall winner is wiggam007 Thank you to everybody who took part. wiggam007 please PM me with your name and address.
Thanks for the contest Vince, pm sent. Also, I would like to encourage everybody else to go add any info they have to the site to help make it better, even without the contest.
Vince's package just arrived today, thanks for all of these great looking coins. I think you just got me addicted to British coins, I'm already arranging to have a buddy pick some more up when he visits this summer.
