No they don't (unfortunately) and in fact the law now requires the motto to be moved from the edge back to either the obv or rev of the coin (I don't remember which) starting with the 2009 coins.

Ever since 1908 the motto IGWT, by law, has to appear on all US coins. (The Buffalo nickel is actually an illegal coin because it neither has the motto nor did it receive a legal exception to the law requiring it.

    i hope

date and mint mark should be at the obverse or reverse. so we don't have to look hardly from the edge.

The nickel is forgotten too. Have you seen any dated after 2003 in circulation recently? It's november and I've yet to see a 2008.

The problem is both designs are boring. I like Mercury dimes a lot.

I never looked at that way before. I'm certainly ready for something other than dead presidents, but you're probably right to leave the dime alone for awhile. I gues of all the actual circulated coins it alone remains untouched. The state quarters, the westward journey nickels, and the changes to the penny coming in '09. Good point.

the cent roll is too high. soon it will come down to near face value. as the westward nickels did.

now it is the time to collect dime. the sleeping dragon. the mint have promoted cent, nickel, quarter, half and one dollar. the dime should have to change its reverse design. i hope the mint will do that.

the dime roll should be a good investment.

2009 rolls for every denominations will be a lot. prices instead might go down to wire. why?. everybody including bankers, dealers, collectors and general public are going to hoard every roll that they got. so the uncirculated version will be too many as compared to other years. because other years people just use them. instead i should say the proof and blemish unc might be the one to collect. cause the mintage for those proof set and unc set keep going down.

    just a example:
    2006 1,700,000,000 - 5,000 rolls kept
    2007 1,000,000,000 - 7,000 rolls kept 2008 1,500,000,000 - 8,500 rolls kept
    2009 200,000,000 - 25,000 rolls kept
    which one is rare?.

2009 dime and nickel might be the winner. not lincoln cent. but kennedy half and sacagawea or the later presidents are also the contenders. what about the spouses gold?. what about the fractionals gold?. what about 2010?. no body knows.

There is no coin in the world that has even 1,000,000 mintage that is rare.
