I saw this on ebay, 230339135168, slabbed in a PCGS holder and denoted Genuine, not degradable. Has it been cleaned? Or maybe the rim dings were repaired. I can't tell for sure. Any opinions out there? Bruce

I would think that it is just verified because of all of the fakes that exist. I think there are probably more fakes that real ones, ha. jmo
After looking at it a little closer, it is interesting that the CC are the brightest letters on the coin ??? But then I have never been much of a Trade dollar fan.
I agree that this coin was genuine slabbed because of the rim dings. Those are well more than should be expected by normal circulation and as a result is considered damage to the coin. I'd hold out for a better example.
Not Degradable because it is metal, and it stays for excessively long times. Only certain things (example: wood, paper etc) are degradable, and then quicker if buried.
I don't know how the "de" got next to the gradable but I earned that comment. I wasn't looking to buy this coin but a friend was. I already own a raw '77 and I wouldn't spend that much money on a coin with problems like this one. Bruce
Sure. That's how the "de" got there before the "graded". Honestly, I don't know what I was thinking. :rolling: Bruce
the 1877-cc is very hard to find in all grades. I think the coin posted would be a good deal at around $200, if the rim hits don't bother the buyer. I don't find them all that distracting. Unless you know these well, don't buy one raw, as most are counterfeit.
