I wish my picture taking skills were good enough to show what I am seeing on this coin. A 1954-D Roosevelt dime. On the reverse level with the epluribus us unum on the bottom of the torch there is another D in the center bottom of the torch betwen the epluribus and us unum. Any one every heard of this?
No..There is also the D mintmark right where it is suppose to be. I will keep trying to take a picture and see if I can show what I mean.
I remember reading about fallen letters. I cant recall much about them off the top of my head though.
The Dropped/Fallen Letter is a relatively scarce error type caused by filled die's . When debris, from a clogged die become compressed within cavities of the die and eventually fall out of the die cavity, like Jello from a mold, it is struck into the field of the coin leaving behind this very interesting incuse letter.
