Well, I've been searching for a couple of weeks now, always get $25 in pennies, $20 in nickels, and $10-20 in halves. I didn't have much luck, but this week I found a 1995-D DDO and in the halves a 1927 Walking Liberty, it was pretty beat up, but still pretty good for my first find I think.

Return them to a different bank (so you don't tick off your supplier) and get some more. I think the saying is "If you are finding alot of good stuff, keep searching. If your not, keep searching." There will be dry spells, just gotta keep looking. It's an odds thing. The more you play, the more you can win!

I got another 8 boxes of halves yesterday.

I had to dump $4400 before I could and visited 4 banks.

My last dump bank I got the ice queen who was miffed that she had to change bags. It was so beneath her. Always friendly and polite. The Rhona Mitra lookalike was not having any.

When I cashed in, the teller gave me 10 rolls of District of Columbia quarters (P mint) (would love to trade for D mint and/or rolls of 2009 pennies and PR quarters of either mint)

All four banks had decent coin return and magnet findings. I picked up 30 foreign coins including $5 CDN and coins from every continent.

    (amazing that fifty large Rupees=USD)

The holes in the 8 boxes of fifty cent pieces revealed nothing of interest. Marked coins were visible all around.

First box had 4-40% and 1-64

Second box was halfway thru before I started hitting paydirt.

    13-Walkers half in the thirties.
    8- Franklins earliest 1949
    1-64
    17-40%
    1971s
    2000s
1-100 Colones coin from Costa Rica (520C=1USD)
    1-50 New Pence 1980
a few NIFCs and other AU's

I scanned the rest of the boxes without finding a connection to the hot box or any silver. Maybe my next order will connect with a hot spot on the pile.

I think the rest will be nearly cleaned of silver. You get a feel for this after 100K halves. The suprises are worth my patience.

So many coins marked. The MASTER is some one who marks with a large J and the date. I am in his shadow.

I have been getting 18 boxes a week and one week (two weeks ago) I got 26 boxes. This has been for a month. Before that I was getting 3-4 boxes a week.

    Finds:

I am up to 24 machine doubles finds since January

Maybe 150-200 ounces of silver in that time. Have to do an inventory.

I filled two albums less a few coins and just got two more which are well on their way to being filled. I get the albums with proof holes and use the degraded proofs to fill them.

At least a tube and a half of proofs. 6 were silver proofs.

6 tubes of walkers and 4+ of Franklins

    500 40%

Picked up a yummy bag just the other day at Walgreens. I know some people say it's hard to find chocolates these days, but they're out there...

FWIW, I made some big friends at the bank when I brought in my small back of chocolate coins and gave them to the tellers of the bank one afternoon.

    Now they remember me fondly!

    I found a 1943 P in $ 20 in nickels yesterday, my
third one in the last $ 100 or so. It's surprising that there are still some of those floating around, with their silver content.

I just today found my first Indian Head Penney, 1880. Lots of vertigras but you can just make out the features. Have to resize pics before I can send them. Also a 1953s.

That's exciting as heck, I remember the first time we found one of those, it turned out to be a beat-up 1865 fancy 5, after we did everything to it from soaking it in paint stripper to boiling it in oil to who knows what else. Believe it or not, you'll keep finding these, just keep at it. I think we found 5 or 6 roll-searching, in all. In fact, one of the other Dads and his kids metal-detect, and we got more IHCs, all gift-wrapped up real nice and tight in rolls, than they've found in the ground. Just keep at it, you'll see...

I'm pretty new to the hobby, but my bank and the other banks in my area are already used to seeing me every other day asking for rolls! However, small town that Baton Rouge is, there don't seem to be any banks carrying rolls of halves and they refuse to order them. I can get up to $6-7 worth halves once every couple of weeks if I'm really lucky. Otherwise my search is limited to nickels, dimes and pennies. I did get my hands on some Eisenhower dollars but not any silver coins.

I haven't found any error coins yet. No interesting finds in dimes either. I've completed my Westward Journey nickels set (very simple to collect) and also found a few old nickels from the 1940's. I do find wheat pennies sometimes, though not very easily. I've found some Canadian cents, British pennies, and even Malaysian 1 sen coins in rolls of pennies.

That said, I'm still trying! It's nice to see some great finds of ya'll.

I search a lot of rolls each week looking for errors and varieties. Last week having run out of rolls to search, I opened one of the boxes of 2 roll P&D sets of DC quarters from the mint I had recieved a couple of weeks ago. Showing on the end was one with "Trail Dies" on the obv. Looking through the roll I found several more with 3 die stages of the same trails. BJ Neff just listed them on his site as 2009P (DC)-25 DEO-001T
    http://traildies.com/id95.html
Just shows you never know where the next "find" will come from.

Looked through my two boxes and got nothing. I was taking some back and a teller happened to have two rolls and about $25 unrolled. I bought them all and got a '68. Not too good this time. Also got a box of pennies and found about 30 wheaties, many in the teens and 20's and a 36 and 50 in beautiful condition.
