The note's ooooooo1*& 00000002* were in an envelop Oakland California for 33 year. then her grandson found it and she gave them to him. both grader AU-58 EPQ Heritages per auction estimate $20-30,000
I'm sure Grandma was shocked to here the news on the value of those notes she had in her sock drawer for 33 years... Nice Find
The story is published in this months Banknote Reporter Pg 1 and pg 24. The #2 SN note is believed to fetch between 4-6K for that note. It is a nice story....with a great outcome and one lucky grandchild! Rick
See, I would have sold the #2 note first as the "lowest reported" serial number for the series....and then sold the #1 serial a few months later.
wow, that is totaly awsome, and a great reminder to everyone that existing rare or limited notes can easily be surpassed tomorrow from someone elses sock draw hope the auctions fetch the highest prices possible
Oh, to be the grandson....then again, I ain't got a clue about paper money and I might (albeit, might) go out and spend it....oh the humanity.
May 1st The notes both sold for 29,900.00 to quote( Coin world ) not bad for a pair of forgotten Au-58 $2.00 star's!
can you post a link if it was an online auction? thats great news that they sold for such high amounts
