Any guesses on these? What's with the 1833, is it in really good condition or has it just been cleaned and polished very hard? I'm pretty sure it is the later. Is there any value to it? I was told it was AU, but after seeing the pics it almost certainly looks cleaned to me. Is it even real? Attributions are welcome also. 1831 Quarter 1828 half 1833 half
whoever did that to the '33 is no collector , or a newbie , they wrecked a real nice coin by polishing it . It's probably lost 75% of it's value , too bad . That's why it's better to never clean a coin unless you know what you're doing and even then there's no guarantee it will turn out better . But polishing will never improve a coin . rzage
that poor 33, absolutely trashed, nothing else. They've taken what would've been at least a $250-300 coin and turned it into a $60 paperweight.
Thanks for the comments. To bad the coin was cleaned because it would have been a really nice coin. Is it even worth $60 bqcoins? Rzage I put a link in the US Coins forum.
As stated that 1833 has been beyond abused. Someone might pay $60 for it but I wouldn't sell it for that without letting them know it was abused. Personally, I wouldn't buy that coin period.
OOps, wrong thread but while I'm here, Is the '33 authentic ? IMO it just looks a little odd (eye,curls,cap).IDK...............................John
Someone in the market if they needed the variety, I'm not gonna dig out my books right now and look it up, might pay that much for it. But remember problem coins will always have very low values, especially in a selective market.
