my girl friends dad has a 10000 bill that barly held togather, its basicly ripped in half, he found it on the street, and its for certain real,
ill see if i can, but my PC is terrible about that stuff, wait, do you think im lieing? well i swear that he does have one, what do you think it would be worth, i know they are super rare
I never said you were lying. I'd like to see a picture of it. The value is completely based on its condition and what note it is. All $10K notes are not the same. It could also be a counterfeit. We would need a picture to make ANY judgment about the note.
no it looks like the really early bills and the guy has some hair, but most the details are worn horribly it looks like it would turn to dust if you touched it
Good, because that was an obvious fake that I posted. Did it look like this? If it's torn in half and really does look like it would turn to dust if you touched it, then your best bet would be to turn it in at a bank (if you can find one who will take it) or send it to the Fed for face value. Still need to see a picture first to know for sure. If it doesn't look like that one does it look more like this?
I wouldn't turn it in if it's real. Even torn in half, I'd imagine there would be desire for the note and it would be worth more than its face value.
I would think so too, but I'm combining "torn in half" with "looks like it would turn to dust if you touched it". I don't know any collector that's going to tie up $10,000+ for a note that looks like that! Still though...POST A PIC!
I don't know, those notes are VERY rare. If authenticated, I could see someone buying it. Even if it only went for 10% over face, that's still an extra $1000. Remember, the highest printed $10000 FRN only had 11,520 notes printed!
it looks like the jackson one, because the guy is on the left but you cant see the serial number or the other text, except you can make out 'united states',
Could be interesting. Technically those notes have been cancelled and aren't even legal to own. They aren't worth face value, but do have value to collectors. In the condition you describe however, it not likely worth too much.
As far as I know, only certain gold certificates are illegal to own. Might be a couple other exceptions too...seem to remember that there was a 1933A series silver certificate that was printed, but never issued. At a minimum one might have some explaining to do if they had one of those.
oh, i see, ha, immagine if a guy stole that coin they only made one of from the smithsonian, and tried to sell it? lol
I bet it would sell. Probably not to the types of people who you would like to get involved with though.
Well...I doubt that anyone will steal that one. But, there are coins that are illegal to own as well that pop up from time to time and the FBI seizes them. The example that comes to mind is the 1933 Double Eagle. They were never released but a few managed to escape the mint. The government will still take them if they find any and you hear about it from time to time. They did allow one to be legally owned and last I heard it sold at auction for over $7million.
