    1880-S Morgan Dollar

I'm looking for grade opinions on this coin...

It's hard to tell from the pics, but there is still some cartwheel luster left, albeit a little dull.

Do you think it would body bag if I sent it in to be slabbed?

No.......I don't like the looks of the reverse. There is way to many nicks on the rim.

I think it would boby bag plus I don't see it getting over MS-62 if it did grade.

The coin looks like it has been over dipped because the color is so flat looking. Also, it looks like it has been cleaned because it is covered in small hairlines. So, I'd say that it would end up body bagged.

The 1890-S Morgan is a fairly common coin in the series and it probably wouldn't be worth slabbing unless the coin was an exceptional example.

    just save your money.

Slabbing is only worth it on very high grades & rare (often faked) coins.

Sorry I'm going to have to agree with everyone else. It looks like it's been cleaned, or over-dipped, maybe to get off what ever was on the reverse.

I would not send the coin in because I do not think it would slab. Even if it did, you would be spending more on the coin than it would gain in value through slabbing -- it's not an expensive coin in this grade even if it made it into a problem-free holder. All IMHO & respectfully submitted....Mike

    p.s. it's an 1890-S, not 1880-s. ;)

Zactly what Mike said. I really do not think this one is worth grading.

Besides the question of whether it's been cleaned or not, IMO it is not worth enough to merit slabbing.
    I use the 10% rule.
The cost of slabbing has to be 10% or less of the value of the coin.
It looks AU to me and that makes it worth less tha $50.
And I think NGC will charge $17 to slab it.
AND if they body bag it they still keep the money.
