Try over the entire surface. Don't get me wrong it is still not a bad coin, but it isn't anything great either
Yes - PCGS will grade it but it will be in a genuine holder. As mentioned still a cool coin. I like the baby coppers.
. I should have known this before I got it. Anyways, will work on getting coins that dont have a black color that indicate corrosion.
We all have to learn somehow. Just be happy it was on a relatively cheap coin. Have fun...Mike p.s. I would NOT send this coin to PCGS. It's worth just as much raw, and the grading fees would be a waste in this case, IMO.
I intended to slab it but since it has corrosion sold it today at a coin show for 55$. Thanks everyone for the inputs !!!
I was told it is corroded by 4-5 dealers. I thought it was just dust but was told that the black was a result of corrosion of copper covering the majestic copper color.
Send it to ANACS. :thumb: They will slab it with Details grading. Plus, it won't cost an arm and a leg like PCGS will charge for a SIMPLE authentic slab. :goof: Ribbit
Learned a lot from this thread. Thanks guys. Have one nearly identical with 12 stars. Any websites where I can learn about the varieties if this 1828?
