I received from a family member several yrs ago 2 Gem 65-66 $2 bills from 1976 that were postmarked with a stamp and cancelled postmark with the date April 13,1976 the first day the bills came out. These 2 bills were then placed into a currency holders where they sat since then.I received these from my grandmother when she passed away. I have no idea if they are worth anything.I'm just curious because I would never sell these unless they were worth several thousand dollars(lol)I appreciate your help. Thanks Randy B
lets see some images higher graded notes 'can' sell for more. but not always. the problem is they are still available from most banks.
I have a couple of these. Here's one of them... If yours looks similar to this one, then they're fairly common as lots of people did this when they were first issued. My best guess is that they're probably worth about $5-$8 each. Also, not sure how the grading companies treat these, but imho, if you stick a stamp on to the note and then cancel it with ink on the face....there's no way it's gonna be graded a 65 or 66 anymore. Maybe that's what the 60-61 numbers are for...
Thats the bill. My grandmother did a couple of these when she worked for the city and put them in plastic. Not laminated. So the bills are perfect except for the stamp and postmark. Thanks RJB
RJ... In my ongoing search for notes I just ran across what you have. It is listed at $29 through a Dealer. I would think that they might be available for less but, you never know what Market drivers are in play! Hope this helps? RickieB
