no i am trying to get u to fix the coin so it retains its color but doesnt look so dark. u r the photoshop guru remember
It does when the name is Photoshop. Anyway, I'm not really a guru at it. I do tend to use my moderate skill and help others with their photos. Especially since the Gimp is now built into my firefox web browser. Ruben
OK Spock. Not having the coin in hand and not being a graphic artists I gave this a shot as a favor to you. I hope this is what you might like to see.
nice :thumb: so here we have what we can use for the book the color image if its a color pic or this black and white one by Ruben
It is color. When you have to lighten an image that dark and with such a limited separation of color spread you have to lower the saturation pf the remaining color because the remaining color becomes hyper. I lowered the saturation but the picture is indeed color
and just a few posts ago u mentioned u were not an expert? look at the brown image posted right before yours. how was that done?
I believe he balanced the image as a grey point from some part of the coin. IMO, that coloration isn't properly representative of the coin, but you would know better. It also doesn't have as good as a balance as mine does, IMO. By properly attenuating the color balance I managed to display the details on the bottom of the obverse. Ruben
As Ruben said, I just adjusted the saturation, color curves and color balance. I put the coin at the color it should be, hoping it really isn't that dark. Nothing really impressing, with the GIMP anyone can do it. The only problem with Rubens, even though you can see more detail, is it looks too blocky like its been over sharpened. But his repressentation is probably more like the true coin.
I didn't sharpen it. I just adjusted to darker spectrum and flattened the overall differentiation of the color spectrum of the coin. Separating the coins from the background was very helpful. Ruben
BTW - I was playing with the GIMP yesterday on Windows and I can understand why Window's users would not be impressed by the user interface. It works much more naturally on a GNU based system. Ruben
