Picked these up at the coin shop last week. I'm pretty happy. I know what the price tags say, but the owner always cuts some off. He started doing this for me after I became a regular customer. Anyway the 1928 B was had for $35 and the star note was only $5. That K.C. star looks like it's only second in value compared to the Minneapolis one and the third print looks a little high. I wonder if that would be considered an error.
    How did I do?

The 1928B is the rarest of small size non-star $2 bills. Hard to tell the condition from the photo, but I'd say that it's worth at least $100. The 1976 $2 star note from Kansas City is also rare...as you said, it's second rarest star note of the 1976 series and worth about 10x what the other stars in that series are with the exception of Minneapolis which is worth a bit more than the KC note. I'd guess that note is worth about $75, but I'm really not sure. Comprehensive Catalog 7th edition shows it as $150 in CU, but might be hard to find a buyer to pay that. Either your dealer really likes you or he really doesn't know currency as well as he should.

Cool. I had a feeling I did well. My dealer is a nice guy and deals much more in coins and bullion. Doesn't pay much attention to the currency. I doubt he's taking a loss either...it probably just means that people selling currency to him aren't getting what it's worth. It isn't out of malice though...I think he just doesn't pay enough attention to realize value...or maybe he's using an old book.

I would grade the 28B as VG. Greensheet bid for the 28B is $25 in VG and $45 in Fine, so I think what you paid was a good price. To keep things in perspective, that note is worth $1800-2000 in Gem Uncirculated condition. WTG! :thumb:

Did you mean VF? I would snatch VG's in that condition all day long! :smile

I'm no expert, but I was thinking Fine myself. I compared it to a bunch of "Fine" notes on Don C. Kelly's website and this one looks pretty similar. Most of the VG ones are really beat up.
