If we are to redesign all the coins and currency, why not feature the stars of CoinTalk? Let's hear your suggestions of who goes where and why.
I'll start with a few ideas: @Lehigh96 will be my choice for the nickel as he is the first one I think of when it comes to that denomination....plus we can save a lot of expenses if we use his avatar as the design. @robec is my pick for the cent...this one has more contenders but he stands out for me @GDJMSP gets the main spot on the $100 by being the elder statesman of the forum
Well, if it is up to me, I would keep the Jefferson Nickel and return it to its original glory. Raise the relief of the obverse back up what it was in 1938. With technological advancements at the mints, they should have no problem handling that relief and achieving full strikes. The reverse I would change. While I like Monticello, I abhor the Full Step designation as a indicator of full strike and the strike designation doesn't mean anything if virtually every coin achieves Full Steps. I would change the reverse design to a quill pen and ink well to commemorate the fact that Jefferson was the primary author of the Declaration of Independence.
Wasn't Roger Burdette here a while back ? He was actually on a committee that provided ideas to the Mint/Treasury.
Penny: Bring back the Lincoln Memorial reverse Nickel: Bring back the orig 1938 designs, although wouldn't be opposed to the suggestion for the reverse of the quill and ink, maybe parchment, etc. Dime: As is...no change. Quarter: Bring back the original 1932 obv and rev. Half: OK...buckle-up, folks. Liked JFK...loved the last 55 years on the half...but like Cape Canaveral, renamed Cape Kennedy but after 20-30 years reverted back to Cape Canaveral...time to return to Franklin, who was only there for 15 years to be interrupted in 64 after Kenney's assassination in Nov 63. Bring Franklin back, as is/was both obv and rev.
Paddyman98 for detection and recognition. If anyone can find it it would be paddyman, right... Neat post, thank you.
