A rare coin story

i was doing some research today and after wasting hours i found NGC blundered again.

the good thing i am better off for it.

I had bought a coin inspite of my mentor telling me it was AU and not MS. In an act of stubborness i bought the coin it came back an AU 58. he was right

The coin got put away and today i was doing research on william 4 legends and my 450.7 to make sure pcgs didnt screw it up with 450.4

then i saw the other coin at the time the seller had marked it as 450.3 incuse F a nice coin but no big deal and when i had got it i had sent it in marked as 450.3 but we all know ngc cant attribute so they marked it 450.3 but today i couldnt see the F i thought i was going blind so i went and got all my 3 loupes and yes there is no F and and and the coin is not 450.3


it is pridmore 40 a rare rare coin to have in AU 58.

i am so happy

folks here might also remember that i had bought 12 junk coins from someone on ebay and they were lying around the house and one coin was in XF william 4 i had taken it to Ron Guth and he had said it was an XF i was so upset i didnt submit it for grading. a year later when i looked at the coin it was 450.7 and has been attributed as such by PCGS another stellar coin. As i see the opportunity to add to my collection these happy thoughts cross my mind

i think i got a 4 figure coin for 50 bucks thats what it means. a rare variety and it has happened twice with willaim 4

 

now we are looking for a third time

but i am truly ashamed that it has happened twice because i was chasing high value coins from all over the world

thanks looked at all my other coins the graded stuff is ok the raw stuff has created some problems again which i will look at on the 18th i wonder how many rarities one can find in one's own collection
