Let's call this a survey. Take a look at this '55S, What do you think I paid? Hopefully I didn't pay too much.....
Looks nice. Wondering what is going on in the left wheat stalks? Also the s in states and m in america looks weak maybe from a grease filled die. No idea what you paid for the coin - but it looks nice and in the ms range.
This was an impulse purchase. Roaming around EBay this morning and I ran across this cent, about 1 minute before the auction ended. There were no bids, and a 39 cent opening bid. So why not? I bid 50 cents and was the only bidder so I got it cheaper. OK, I have to add postage, but it's still cheaper than driving to a coin show. Mark, yeah something going on on the wheat stalk and the mint mark, and the pics aren't all that great. Oh well coinman0456, not sure what vine you get grapes from but I sure lucked out on this one. I have a special process I use for getting lucky, First step, find a blind squirrel....... BadThad, I guessed retail would be in the $2-$3 range. I'll decide what to do with it when I get it in hand.
55-S Bu rolls sell at about $23-$27 a roll retail. You can find gems because they come nice, up to around 65-66 RD....it's those 67's that get a tad expensive. Finding a 66 in a roll would be above average, 63's, 4's and 65's abound. Add: Nice die chip on the reverse left wheat ! Also common to this date.
This was just one of those things I couldn't pass up. I have a nice one with my Lincoln set, just an impulse buy.
