Given the right market (such as eBay or elsewhere) and the right time, your' GSA Morgans should fetch prices above what you might pay for the same coins in the same grades but raw in 2x2's! There if you sell them for more than the raw coins will cost, then you could purchase the raw coins and still have some money left over to put towards another coin you need. However, there is another solution and that is to take the coins out of the GSA holders and put them in the book. I have owned quite a few GSA Morgan Dollars and have yet to find even one that was sealed where I could not remove the coins. In fact, I have purchased CC Morgans that were also VAM's (that I Cherrypicked) in the past at discounts due to their GSA holders being damaged and also missing their COA's, then purchased replacement GSA holders with COA's on eBay and sold some of the coins at a premium over what I had in them.

Thats a good idea Frank. See people think that I am crazy for asking such silly questions, but you really get a variety of opinions from members on CT. These are the things I like to hear what other members would do.

I cracked a bunch of these years ago and still hate myself for it.
Sure it was fun at the time and they looked great with the set but that feeling didn't last long.

Jacer maybe if you can post some good pics of the 84', if that coin is as good as it looks in the first pics, it might have a shot at 65. If it does IMO I would send it to NGC.

I'd probably just leave them as they are. But, they are your coins and you should do what you want with them. If you don't like them in the holders...crack them out. There's no point in owning them if you aren't enjoying them.

If you're looking to upgrade then sell these coins, as is on ebay, and choose the new ones you want to buy. It may not turn out even, monetarily, but you'll achieve your goal and be happy about it in the end.

If it was me, I'd leave everything like it is. Why do the coins have to be in a folder? Just knowing I had them, and COULD put them in the folder if I wanted to, would be good enough for me!

Yes True, but I am crazy and unstable and simple things like this don't make sense to me. :p:whistle:

Its not that I don't like the coins or don't want them. Its that I really like the coins and want them in my book. :eating:

Unforunately I think there is just too many hits to the face to make it a 65. But that is one beautiful coin, looks like it has great luster, and the rev is almost perfect. I think its a strong 64, and btw it's an excellent strike. IMO if it were me I would keep it, lol just because I dont think I could bring myself to get rid of it.
