Suggestion to the administration

Is there any way I could coerce you into changing the title of this part of the forum from "Error Coins" to "Errors and Varieties"? Much more is discussed here than just errors, and I think the suggested name is far more befitting of what actually occurs here.

Honestly, I believe that there should be separate forums for both! Too many times, Threads and Postings on Error Coins seem to bury very interesting Threads and Posts on Variety Coins!

I didn't want to go that far with my request - baby steps...

But I do agree. I would prefer to not go through the error posts to get to the variety posts, but then again, with so many people not knowing the difference, would they pick the correct topic anyway?

 

Charles…I suggested this change a couple of years ago, “Errors and Varieties”…it never happened. Maybe your influence will bring about a change. I wish Ebay would do the same thing.

its not at all about influence. As Peter has mentioned at times since i have been here, its all about how many folks want it. If 1 person requests it, then it shows little interest. if 100 folks PM him or post in this thread about it, its shows alot of interest.

I wouldnt go thinking you dont count as much as anyone else.. we are all equals here

If there is a need for more thoughts. I would love to see two separate categories....one for errors and one for die varieties. I like 'em both so I would read both sections but it would be nice to have two sections

I run a forum of my own, and created a new section just a few days ago for trails dies. I figured there were enough posts about them that they needed their own area. It took less than five minutes to create the area, so I know it cannot be a difficulty issue.

That is an excelent idea! But I do believe it would be great to have two seperate catagories for errors and varieties.

 

Despite what the column is called novices" such as myself" may still think the coin in question an error. Will it really help to add another column? Just a question, not trying to ruffel any feathers.

Why would you want to combine the two? The vast majority of errors are not varieties, and vice-versa. Wouldn't this be like titling a forum 'Great African Americans and Presidents of the USA"? Sure, there is some intersection, but in general the groups have a lot more members NOT in common than IN common.

 

He's not asking to combine the two. He is merely stating that for the purposes of this forum, since they are already combined (we don't have a variety forum) why not label the forum as such instead of mislabeling all the variety coins that are posted in the "error" forum

I agree as well,
I too am a new collector and I'm about to dive into the variety field. It would be nice to have a forum just for this aspect of collecting because it would be "one stop shopping". Instead of having to search thru the error posts to find what I'm looking for.
