About two weeks ago I made a thread asking how to start collecting ancient coins and I got a lot of very helpful tips on where to start from you guys. @gsimonel even sent me a couple of coins from Constantine the Great to help me start my collection and they just arrived today and they are amazing! Thank you very much, I will be sure to pay it forward! These are my first ancient coins and the start of something great.
That is a great starter set! LRBs are plentiful and have lots of different designs and varieties. I think it is the best place to start for collectors who are new to ancients. It is where FFIVN and I started. Kudos to @gsimonel for hooking you up!
This is how I started too. From a CT member! Nice coins, I'd write the info down either on the computer or on paper and pop those little guys out of their cellophane prisons. Ancients are much better in hand There is a nice podcast I listened to a couple years ago called plainly "the history of rome" by Mike Duncan. It is 10 minute clips at a time, and it covers a lot of goodies! You're the type to strive to learn more, I'm sure @gsimonel wouldn't have given you those if he didn't believe you would treasure and enjoy them, or sell them off. My heart is filled right now! I love you all.
History of Rome History of Byzantium Emperors of Rome Those are all great podcasts that I have listened to since starting down the path of collecting ancient coins.
Nice coins, alot of history with the ruler and the coins themselves. ...this is a great site with some of the best knolage about coins from members. Like others posted....welcome to the fun and for some of us the addiction!
