Well guys...I feel like a very luck guy!! Here are the results of the 2 1907 Woodchopper Error notes... Drum roll................. PCGS GEM66 and PCGS 63 PPQ Here is a close up of the error part of the reverse.... Notice the Pcblic instead of the Public... I forgot to mention that these notes have consecutive SN's I am thrilled.. a 66 in Gem...
Daggarjon...anytime... I would trust you!! SO I just scanned the other one so here it is. I really think it is a 64...oh well I am a happy guy on these! These were cut ~ 50 years ago (according to the seller) from a sheet his Father had....this note was cited for handling while cutting and thin margins on the bottom of the note cutting ever so close to the body. Enjoy... The twin Brother of the 66..well almost twin!! RickieB
Congratulations RickieB. Two vintage consecutive numbered error notes in uncirculated condition, nice! I wonder how many GEM 66 errors there are out there. You could probably count them on one hand. Lou
Lou... Thank you! Yes I know....I was thrilled when I found out! There are very few of them in this grade!! Regards, RickieB
Beautiful notes. Congratulations! Just to clarify things for me (I know nothing about notes, let alone error notes) isn't the error just a missing piece of the right-hand upright on a normal "U" rather than the substitution of the wrong letter? In other words, it seems to be a printing defect rather than a spelling error.
Possibly. The note was presented as a error, not really a spelling error. The hobby refers to it as a C much like in coins most die breaks that go near the central figure are always called spiked heads the nickname doesnt always reflect exactly what is going on I do agree i believe the U is just missing part of the right leg. If you look at a C on the note, the curve as it comes up from the bottom to form the lower part of the bottom of the opening to the right... well, the curve is more pronounced then the error on the note. At the same time, the curve portion at the bottom of the error does seem to match up with the U. Errors on notes dont seem to happen as often as coins and this note just doesnt have enough to go around, nor in this high a grade lol So when this note comes up, it is usually reffered to as Pcblic with a c.
PCGS Population Report!! Lou.... I am happy to find out that only 3 notes exist at PCGS that have graded out at a 66PPQ.....I do not have access to the PMG or CGA stats... It does look like these are rare in high grade notes!! Good call Lou!! RickieB
wow! that is awsome to own a not with a population of 4. a note that grades a 66 by itself is a nice note! but to have such a small pop# is just frosting ont he cake
Daggarjon.... That 3 count at PCGS includes this note..LOL It is frosting on the cake....I was wondering if anyone here had access to the CGA and PMG archives that could look up the population reports on this...please?? Thank you in advance... RickieB
It doesn't surprise me that there are only three notes graded in that high of quality by PCGS. It would be interesting to know what the PMG and CGA stats on these notes are. RickieB I think you hit the currency note LOTTO with this note. :thumb: Lou
Lou...I am just the supplier...LOL One day my Son will be winner of this Lotto find. From the info I havethus far, the total price I paid for the set of notes can be realized by just this single note. It's like getting the CHCU63 EPQ for free.. Thanks again for stopping by... Best regards, RickieB
