I have been searching high and low for foreign coins albums as a way to spread my wings in an feasible way. I find many suppliers advertize Australia albums but are always out of stock and cannot tell me when they will be available. Also, do other countries such as Denmark, Germany and others publish their own albums and if so does anyone have a source as to where to acquire them? Hopefully from a company in the US as to avoid extravagent shipping charges. Thanks folks.
Here in Germany some people use such pre-produced topical albums for euro coins, e.g. the annual circulation coin sets, the European €2 commemorative coins or the German €10 collector coins. But most people don't, and with pre-euro coins it may be difficult to find that type of album. A box or sleeves that tell(s) you in advance how they want to be filled ... nah. Christian
I've got a couple of Japanese coin albums. One is for date sets of all Japanese coins made from 1948 to 1979. The other is a type coin album of all Japanese coins made since the 1870s.
I would be interested in an album like this. Are they easy to find in Japan? How much do they cost? Is it the type where you push the coin in and see only one side, or the type with plastic slides so you can see both sides of the coin? Thanks -wheatiefan
The album I have was a gift. I'm thinking it would probably retail for around $20. I don't know if they are easy to find, although I could probably find another one if I asked around. It is the type of album with plastic slides that allow you to see both sides of the coin.
That's a nice start. We have found Japanese albums. Now how about albums from other countries like Phillipines,Denmark,Gt. Brtain and so on. Tell us where or how you acquired them. I cannot imagine we are the only country that produces coin albums for numusmatists. Thanks folks.
I've also got some old Whitman albums for Canadian coins, which I acquired in Bellingham, Washington (about 60 miles from Vancouver, Canada)
There are these albums for Norwegian coins: http://www.qxl.no/pris/mynter-sedle...er-1863-1992-med-30-bra-mynter/v/an564693142/ http://www.qxl.no/pris/mynter-sedle...25-oere-1876-med-41-bra-mynter/v/an559127444/ I think you can find the same type for Danish coins. The issuer was Sieg, who still issues the Sieg catalog for Scandinavian coins. They don't make them any longer, but they are quite availible in used condition. Most Norwegian collectors use standard A4 or A5 2x2 albums. You can buy them with pages set up for all dates and denominations, but that is rather expensive. These albums look like this: http://www.qxl.no/pris/mynter-sedler/tilbehoer/album-med-14-mynter/v/an566522444/ Finally, a Norwegian collector and his wife have made their own layout for Hartberger albums. They have put the files on the internet for anyone to use. They can be found on this page: http://samlerforum.no/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=1054 This forum also have an english section called Norwegian coin collectors forum, where any English speaking person interested in Norwegian or Scandinavian coinage can post. http://samlerforum.no/viewforum.php?f=32
Many thanks for the links and sources. I knew there had to be answers for this and thanks to you they are coming in. I know that for anyone who has a busy schedule that putting together customalbums can be expensive and time consuming so let's keep this thread rolling. Thanks to all!:hail:
Japanese coin album I've located a company that sells the Japanese type coin album. Apparently, the retail price is closer to $43.00 (not including postage). Here's the web site (in Japanese), where you can at least take a look at the album: http://www.rakuten.co.jp/icoins/434477/438215/438216/
If you copy that link, then go to google then paste the link in the search engine, it will give you the option to translate the page for you. Here is also a direct link to the translated page http://translate.google.ca/translat...co.jp/icoins/434477/438215/438216/&hl=en&sa=G
Thanks for the Japanese Coin Album links. I've been searching as well. If anyone comes across any other means of purchasing these type of albums (perhaps found in the states) please post the info. Thanks!
Some of those translations lose something in the translation. For example. "Chubu International Airport opened Memorial to the 500 yen store" is a little different from the Japanese meaning of "can hold all issues up to the 500-yen Chubu International Airport commemorative"
I agree. I have seen some really funny translations, but for those who do not speak the language. It is one of the better and cheaper options.
True, the most critical information seems to have been translated without too many errors. And if I were searching for information on, say, a Korean or Thai web site, I would certainly appreciate such a translation tool.
Lighthouse makes albums for Euro coins and some U.S. coins. Canadian Wholesale Supply makes coin albums and folders for Canadian and U.S. coins. Whitman just started making some folders for Canadian money. Other than that, most albums are universal types, for all coins.

Other potential sources are World Coins or Ginza Coins, both in Tokyo. You can contact them at info@coins.co.jp or ginza-co@ginzacoins.co.jp. Based on having been in both shops, I'm sure they each have someone who will respond in English to any inquiry. I've never seen a foreign coin folder or album (other than Canadian) in stock at any US dealer's shop or website, nor on ebay or any other auction site.
Hontonai, thanks for the additional Japanese Coin Album links. Maybe next time I'm in Tokyo I'll have a look...but that's not happening anytime soon. I did end up ordering Japanese Coin albums from this site that Collector1966 recommended: http://www.rakuten.co.jp/icoins/434477/438215/438216/ but ended up over paying for the overseas shipping fees--but happy to get the albums I needed.
