I posted my opinion about a coin. I got an angry PM telling me my opinion was wrong. I said twice it was an opinion. Maybe it was wrong, that's why it is an opinion. I will no longer post opinions if I am going to upset anyone.

Dont feel threatened if someone doesnt agree or send you a silly PM. Do let the mod know. Pm's should not be used to assault someone based on their opinion. Everyone has one, and everyone should feel entitled to voice it - folowing forums rules of course.

Dont feel you need to keep quiet! right or worng, you are able to voice your opinion.

How dead and quiet would a forum be if none of us voice our opinions... and a vast majority turn out to be wrong - this is how we all learn!

I too hope you will reconsider! and shame on the person who sent the PM!!!

You didn't post anything wrong, I read the post and you very mildly stated your opinion. Only one person had a reason to write anything hateful to you...and I personally don't think too highly of his opinion. Please continue to post, I would venture a guess that everyone else here wants to read your opinions.

My opinion is that the person showed their true colors & lost whatever business they may have gianed from ever posting here. My opinion is that people that flame others & call them names should be banned.:loud:

So in my opinion you should reconsider your opinion as to not posting your opinions for post that may well require others opinions. An opinion is only a conclusion of judgement held with confidence and not intended to be a proven or factual statement. I don't know what your opinion was about a post that may have required an opion or no opinion was required, however, opinions are usually necessary to indicate the possible differences in opinions of individuals on this forum.;);)
Stick around. We need people with opinions.
And that is just my OPINION.

The way I see it, if someone doesn't want an honest opinion about a coin they post here, then they shouldn't be dumb enough to post a coin here for opinions. Basic common sense. Don't let someone's temper tantrum scare you off.

    Cap'tn:

The Pm'er must be my mother-in-law.
When I offer an opinion, she says: "You're wong, Frank." [the three most often repeated words in her house.]

I always say: an Opinion, by definition CAN'T be wrong. It is just that an opinion. You may not agree, the world may not agree, but it can't be wrong.

I recently was PM'd that I say "no added value" when a poster asks about the value of a coin. Usually it has to do with strike/mechanical doubling. And I was told who am I to say so. Again, it is an opinion, and they are free to pay scads of money for all that I care, but it, once again is an opinion. Based upon speaking to various luminaries in the business. They know better than I do, so, Sorry, but: for strike doubling, there ain't no added value.

    Speak your peace!

    And the heck with them.

If an opinion upsets someone, then they are in the wrong place.

If they had any courage they'd say it out loud, and not privately.

    Keep at 'em.

Now in many people's opinion people should not be saying AIN'T. But that is just an opinion of English Teaching people. But since this is not England, it's probably OK for my opinion.

I am just an old thin-skinned hippie. What angered me most, is the un-named PMer stated that I should not post opinions unless I have an adequate level of expertise on the subject. The poster was right, I am not an expert on 1877 anything. I have embarrassed myself before opining on doubled dies. I usually wait till Mike posts now.
I'll get over this, and continue as usual eventually. I have a very good memory, it's just short.
