No, the coin at that grade is worth, what? 25 cents raw? Nice x120 markup

Is it in a regular PCGS holder or a special one (First day strike, Early release)? The first day ones in 66 are going for over 50, at least on eBay.

I just love that "first day" stuff. I remember there was a big stink about that a while back...I had hoped people would learn that it means nothing, even less than the slab. But, it didn't work out that way. :(

As far the price. That seems to be what they are selling for right now. I think it's awful high and in a few months the prices will settle down, but right now it is the hot coin and the prices are up.

I ended up buying a raw one for .75 cents, which was probably .74 cents too much, but from what I've seen on ebay, you could have potentially paid much more, so I would take it as a cheap lesson? I know next time something like this happens, I'm gonna wait until the dust settles.

With 1st strike designation they were offered

With 1st strike designation in PCGS 66 Red they were offered in quanity at my coin show last Sat. for $35 - I did not buy any but would have for $20 to $25 each but he would not go down in price - I would have sold them for $35 so,,, - I think there is a lot of MS-66 Red though but not many (if any 67's yet - see my new thread on tracking.

I 100% agree, just wait until the next lincolns come out and they will be selling for crazy numbers, and the log cabin will drop in price. But hey right now thats pretty much the prices there selling for, so all the lincolns I get go straight on eBay.

wow that's a crazy find...most people say they can't even find them at the banks, and you were lucky enough to find one on the ground...how about those odds!:thumb:

However if it has a stamp on it from the Mint that notes a person was standing there at the last place coins come out and stamped it with a punch taht says first strike, it may well be one. I suspect it would have the initials of the person with that punch on the coin also.:smile
How soon we all forget. When those bicentennial quarters came out people went just as nutty paying all kinds of money for those. Now you see them in change all the time as those same people find that piles, rolls, bags, etc of them are barely worth a quarter.
Soon enough all those 2009 Lincoln Cents will have the same fate as people all realize everyone has rolls, bags, piles, jars, cans of them.
I'll just wait for the Chinese versions in those nice fake PCGS slabs.
