I bought a SLQ and the guy took like 5 weeks to send it out (I've been a good customer for him) as a I'm sorry he sent this coin with it for free. It a 25th anniversary coin for the presidents committee on employment of the handicapped. I can't find any info on it. I think it might be a Franklin Mint coin. Any help would be great. Sorry about the lighting but here are some pictures.

It's not a coin. It appears to be a medal or a token of some sort. Pretty cool piece.

I was recently telling someone who had a bad experiance with a dealer about how, if he got to the owner instead of the order taker, that he might be surprised at the response he might get. This is a good example of showing patience. it's a nice looking freebie so good for you.

Is that thing supposed to explain the super slow shipping. I would send it back with a note that says "I appreciate your gesture of sending me a freebie, but what I really would like is a promise that all future purchases will be delivered in a timely manner."

Accepting this freebie is tantamount to tacit permission to ship all your future purposes at his leisure. Besides, he can't sell that POS and you did him a favor by taking it.

But if you like it, just ignore everything I wrote. I think Ben Peters just jumped into me for a minute.

He normally ships super fast I have to wonder if he was sick he's pretty old and does the coin thing to supplement his income. I noticed he didn't have anything listed on e-bay during that time period. Ice

Hey Dealers are only human. Not all shops are huge like Littleton. That 3 page order of Lincoln cents that's only worth $50 takes hours to pull! So imagine if you are 1 person & you have 6 of them! Not to mention people coming into the shop buying & selling. Among the zillion other things you must do. (Sorry struck a nerve.) I know a lot of dealers from all over and most of them are 1 - 3 man shops. Also they put in more than 40 hrs a week just to have coins for you to choose from.

Yes 5 weeks is long but people are human there a million reasons why it took so long but if you really want to know call & ask. Or even better call & ask if they were sick.

And yo are correct it was struck at the Franklin Mint. That little "winged F" at the lower right by the eagle is the Franklin Mint mintmark.

The Piece shown above is a Commemorative for the 25th aniv. of The presidents committee for Employment of the Handicapped, established under the presidency of Ronald Reagan in 1983. The pieces were problem distributed to participants of the J.A.N. ( Jobs Accommodation Network ) which placed the Handicapped in employemnt. These were probably distributed last year.
