    Hi,
Hope this is the right place to post this. I am looking for an 1879-cc morgan ( probably in the vf range), a 1879-O, (MS62?), and an 1880-O (MS60-62). Any help out there???

This will probably get moved to the "open" section.

Let me understand. You want to find these Morgans in these grades in PCGS old rattler slabs?

No, I have, I just want clarification before I tell him how difficult it is going to be to find what he is searching for.

LittleDog, I don't believe I have welcomed you, so Welcome.

There are probably very few of those actually left as most have been cracked out of the rattler slab and resubmitted to get the high chance of an upgrade. Maybe searching ebay for unsuspecting novice sellers, but knowledgeable sellers will have already resubmitted them unless they see some problem. So look very carefully at any you find.

Not exactly, the 1879-CC has a total PCGS poplulation of about 3,000 in all grades. How many do you think are still in rattler slabs? Take that number and find a VF coin. He would be lucky if that even exists.

I'm still sifting through several hundred Morgans I recently inherited..no CC's in the VF range...may have one or both of the O mintmarks..but I'd only be interested in letting go of them if I've got duplicates..too cold up here for rattlers..they're only found east of the Cascades..

    Thanks for any input.

I am still not sure just what the OP is asking for. If he is asking which dealer we would recommend to sell him these coins, this (or US coins forum) is about right. If he is asking for one of us to sell him the coins, it should be in the open forum.

I have a 1964 D dime in a rattler marked sample, does that help?

I'm confused. I've never heard the term rattler before. How does it relate to the old PCGS slabs. As I don't recall the coin rattles in them.

The older PCGS slab coin holders were hard plastic is stead of the rubber used today. If either the plastic or the coin were off a little in diameter, the coin would come loose and "rattle" in the holder.
