So they seem to have this more subtle but dynamic toning. Some of my Clads are just wonderful, but what you think of with a clad at all.
I don't like to post my coins unless the photo is taken by myself. I make exceptions for some of Brandon Kelley's photos which are all but impossible to improve upon. This photo is a Goldberg photo. For some reason, I can't capture the toning on clad coins. My photos are terrible. Here is my photo which will answer your other question as well.
Lehigh, How's the luster on that one? To be honest it looks good enough to be a 66 with the hits and toning.
That is a good question. It occurs to me that I don't really know how to evaluate luster on a clad coin. It is better than my other clad IKE, but since I don't collect IKE's, I don't really know what the luster on an MS66 clad should look like. Excuse my ignorance in this area, but we all know, I don't collect moderns. I like it for my type set though.
Eureka I have changed, I don't hate Ikes any longer. Eureka I have changed, I don't hate Ikes any longer. Now don't jump up in praise of conversion yet but I have made up my mind not to bash Ikes any longer. I don't hate Ikes - I don't like them but I promise in the future not to unduly contribute to Ike bashing. Alas, it was fun for awhile but you guys love Ikes and I'd rather build friendships on Coin Talk than bash Ikes hands down! That plus I'd rather be known on here as a little bit more accommodating than controversial. It's all about priorities - peoples as friends and contacts are more important that petty dislikes of coin designs - it's as simple as that!
Bicentennial Ike Here is a raw 1976 Bicentennial that is missing the obverse clad layer. I don’t think that I showed this one before. I bought it as a Christmas gift for myself when I was 10-years younger. Does anyone have any other cool striking errors on Ike dollars? Very best regards, collect89
Check out the 1974 in this registry set. Check out the 1974 in this registry set. http://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/alltimeset.aspx?s=341 Very best regards, collect89
Those off center strikes are very cool and it makes me wonder how they struck them soo far off and even with such clear imprints. It's amazing. Ruben
A great coin, but not as good as the MS68 1974-S IMO. Now what if I told you that both are AT. The owner has comments of Peacock next to both. The Peacock IKE's are very similar to the Appalachian Jefferson Nickels. They were initially graded as market acceptable and then later thought to be AT. They are so good, it basically brings into question rainbow toning on any IKE. Now whether or not these coins are actually Peacock IKE's is another question.
