Cleaning Coins with Acetone So I read on the forum that leaving coins in acetone will remove gunk and discoloration from my silver coins. I have left some in the acetone for the past three days, and I have yet to see any results. Do I need to use a q-tip or other device to gently clean them? Or will the acetone eventually flake away the gunk? I appreciate any advice on this matter.
From my experience a q-tip would help, but go easy. You should practice this on a worthless coin first. I would ask that you wait for others to give their opinions also.
