I have gotten 3 Franklins from buying them in 7-11's or out of cash registers when I saw them. I have never gotten them from rolls, but I usually don't search rolls. I have gotten lots of 40% and a few 1964 from the same convenience store purchases etc.

I ordered my first box of halves last month and have opened up 16 rolls so far and found 3 Franklins 53S,59,62D and 2 40% 66,68D , 1 proof 71S and 2 mint collector years 04D & 05D. im taking my time because I'm spending them as i go. Im also looking for DDOs & "no fg" but nothin so far

with everyones searching bad luck maybe some areas are over searched

How many on here gets a box and spend them or do you just dump them back to a bank. ?

I got my first $500.00 box last week and after searching, dumped them back into the coin machine and cashed out .

Not spending the rejects, using it to purchasing another box.

how many hours you guys spend for searching the rolls. why not use those hours to do some overtime?. i can have $350.00 for 8 hour overtime. and i can buy some coins.

Good point. I came to this conclusion, too.

I'll bet the bank detectives are real thrilled about that. ;)

So (sorry for changing the subject) -- can you give us any more insight/info about banks ordering 2009 cents?

When I was sorting rolls I always said I did it for the fun of it. If it was for the money I'd just get a job. The $/hour worked out to less than $2/hr.

Hey hold on just a minute, I just noticed this! I can't let that stand, Cave Troll. The term I used (which was misunderstood by you as "profanity") was rather, as I explained in my reply to your "infraction" PM, an accepted, informal reference to a "bank detective" (as in, "The Bank Dick," W.C. Fields...referencing a bank "Dick Tracy"). Just wanted to clear that up.

Yup . . . while I'm not old enough to remember WC Fields' movies when they first came out :smile, I'm old enough to have watched them -- including "The Bank Dick", a classic -- when they used to appear with some frequency on TV in the '60's.

Y'all had tv in the sixties?? Wow!! lol. Anyway, I stand corrected, and I've edited my previous edit.

For what it's worth someone complained about the language there so I just removed it. Just assumed it was a comment on the current attitude towards banking executives in todays economy.

    I learned something today.

Oh, I can see it being misunderstood. It is for sure a term not much in use anymore. (E.g., the Flinstones theme song ending with "we'll have a gay old time", i.e., the gay '90's?) And so, perhaps it needed to be replaced.

And that's one of the reasons we're on this forum!

I bought the last 21 rolls I had in my vault at work today cuz I ordered some more to be shipped tomorrow. I went through them tonight and only found 2 40%. I just take them to work and run them back through the changer. I'm still waiting for a Franklin!
