Part of it is cause they are new & that's what every one does when the design is changed. Second is cause it's expected to be a low mintage. Third is cause pennies are always hot!

That is so weird cause I swear the release date was 4/9. Actually this is irritating as we pre order a long time ago.

If I'm not mistaken, the official release date for the log cabin cent was 2/12 (mainly the KY event), but the mint didn't start selling rolls until 3/13. I haven't heard anything about 4/9, unless that was maybe supposed to be your ship date or something (I haven't kept up with that, since I didn't order any online). Then the release date for the next version of the cent is 5/14.

I guess I was lucky to be at the ANA Money Show in Portland where the mint was selling them in person. I was able to pick up the two-roll set for $8.95 with no shipping, and I had them in hand immediately. This also happened to be on 3/13, the same day they started selling them online.

THANKS! Now I'm ****ed again the darn mint so needs to make up their mind. What was the point of saying the release date was in April if they are sending them out before then.

    Teeth grinding.

Maybe you should go to the mint website and click on Product Availability and then 2009 Scheduled Products Listing and then write down the dates and this will not happen again!!

Garrett just made a new thread about the problem we discovered with our order this morning. Here is a copy of what I posted on his thread. I thought it might be worth repeating since the mint recommended we tell others of the problem.

The lincoln silver dollar was february. Hmmm but why did it say 4/9 in one place and 3/13 in another.

Oh I'm just irritated cause I hate being nagged by customers over something I have no control over. LOL

That & been dealing with pennies for what seems like for ever. I've got 17 rolls of pennies to put in 2x2's & then I can start with Kennedy halves. :( Yeah! LOL

WHAT! ORDER CANCELED. OMG! UMMM I CAN'T LOOK! DON'T WANT TO... To scared!

    Missed out

I can't believe how fast those are gone. They must not have produced nearly what I was anticipating. But, lets not forget that FOUR designs have to come out, WITHIN this year.

The first quarter of '09 is over meaning the Birthplace cents are already ancient history and they should be well into the process of starting the next series. In 3 months, that will be ancient history.

It definitely leaves you wondering what to expect for individual mintage figures. I still think there's multitudes of these sitting out there waiting to be distributed. They just may not be wrapped in that valuable mint paper.

In time, I think supply will surpass demand. Although I have yet to get one of these pennies in circulation.

Focus and demand is likely at the highest point right now. I wouldn't touch any of them on ebay with a 10 foot pole this year.

The special commemorative set is going to go fast. I will not miss that one.

    Plenty of 09 pennies

If you're sorry you missed out on the special mint wrapped rolls because of the cool paper, that is understandable. But nobody should think these birthplace pennies are going to be 'rare'.

Mintage from Jan 09 through Feb 09 was 536.8 million total. Of course, March hasn't been tacked on yet either.

Rolls of these (at face value) will be readily available for a long time.

Nah it's not the paper. Heck were going to open the roll any how. It's just fustration & nagging of customers. Granted a lot of our local people think that all the varieties of quarters & cents are available Jan 1!

But the penny thing is by far had more nagging then we ever had with the quarters.

And they were talking about doing away with the penny! Yeah right!

Some one correct me if I'm wrong but don't those numbers include the coins in the mint set.

Sometime the set is cheaper than buying the coins individually.

Ok, this may be a stupid question, but here goes.... Since the Mint sold out of the 1st Lincoln Cent and the banks aren't ordering them from the Fed. (because of the large amount of coins people are bringing), is there any chance the Mint would 'recall' them and sell them? I'm sure they (the Mint) made some extra 'profit' on the cents they sold. Thoughts??
