Well, I used to be a big believe in the unsearched and grab bag nonsense, but now I think they are all crap. You pay $6-$12 and sometimes higher, for a 1909 on one end, and a bunch of circulated or cleaned 40's and 50's in the middle My question to you, is would you ever buy an unsearched roll of anything, buffs, wheats, etc.
Only if I could help the little ole man or woman carry them, Only if I could help the little ole man or woman carry them out of their basement. It is sad to see on eBay the rolls of wheat's with an Indian on the end or BU coin are probably contrived. So are unopened proof and mint sets we have even seen boxes of reproduced brown (but not brown enough) new envelopes for that very purpose. So now we all must trust very little anymore with regards to original and unopened or unsearched anything. I do have older folks bring in BU memorials still and I trust them but then it's a matter of trust in the person than so much what they bring in - that's hard to do through the mail or on the Internet.
I would never bother with unsearched anything. I usually type it in an ebay search when I'm in the mood to read some good B.S.
A lot of that BS going around.... Hi all. Today up for auction, is a rare unsearched roll of pennies with (2) 1900 IHP on both ends! I got this roll of pennies form my elderly uncle, who recently passed, and I don't have the time to search through it myself, so I'll pass the rolls onto you! And the best part, no reserve! BS! lol
Yeah, I know lots of old farts with machines that put coins into rolls. There are also lots of young guys who don't have the time to search through them (haha). They're probably too busy coming up with good stories for their ebay item descriptions. When the line "I'm not an expert" is listed, believe it! Most of the coins are probably cleaned, proving their point.
You sometimes read about it in someone's feedback, but it is most likely one of their friends helping them sell their "tightly wrapped shotgun rolls." By the way: that saying irritates me to no end. Who came up with that stupid cliche anyway?
"Tightly Wrapped Shotgun Rolls" I don't know...It gets annoying when I read it over and over again on my paypal receipt! lol
You betcha - IF unsearched rolls, the Easter Bunny, unicorns, Santa Claus, world peace, and the Tooth Fairy, didn't all belong in the category "Wouldn't it be nice if these things existed?"
World peach sounds delicious. Imagine the size of the cobbler! I don't generally buy unsearched lots. I prefer unattributed.
Don't knock the Tooth Fairy! She used to leave me half dollars under my pillow in exchange for teeth. That's how this whole coin collecting thing got started!
