I just started a new one last week. I bought an extra Lincoln unc commem just for this purpose. I think it will look great in a year or so. Once it's worn a bit, I'll make a key chain out of it. Where do coins wear the most? front pocket or back pocket? or does it even matter.
Now just a pewter Saint Christopher medal I received when I started driving 40+ years ago. It's held up pretty well over the years. For a while I tried carrying older date British Pennys (pre-Elizabeth II) but always ended up giving them away to people who asked what they were. An 1866 Penny featuring Queen Victoria goes far toward explaining to a cashier that I really was only checking my change for coins I might need. You should have seen her smile when she got to keep the coin.
Does a $2 bill count. A friend gave it to me for Chinese New Years back in 2003. I folded it and stuck it behind my ID and its been there every since. No actually it was 2004, but the bill is an 03. Man, I haven't seen that thing in years. LOL
A COLT .380, i used to carry a 2000 sac till i lost or spent it in 2006,god it was ugly. now i have a 1921 morgan that was polished so i want to see if i can wear that off.
A restrike 1794 cent, love those Liberty Caps. I have an original 1794, and I wouldn't dare mess around with it in my pocket - so next best thing.
No, it is a free coin. I bought quite a few unc and quite a few proof. I had a few of them graded and flipped those (to flip can be defined as selling an item quickly while there is great demand that brings a high, often momentarily, inflated price) for a profit. So, technically the coin in my pocket didn't cost me a thing.
I carry a 1879 Morgan, I inherited it so it has sentimental value, and its my lucky coin. Oh and It usually makes for an interesting conversation .
I lose a swiss army knife about every 3 weeks, so a pocketful of gold or silver is not a good idea.....I guess I am counting on my lucky pocket lint. I could go with a toonie - for that dual-metal effect and low investment.
I am thinking about a morgan as my pocket piece. Wondering if I should leave it raw or in an airtight?
I was impressed by Lehigh96 and his wad of $100 bills until I saw this gold piece. I think whatever I finally decide to carry with be far less impressive.
Yup, and this not the first - spent the predecessors. I've been carrying one of these for years. And no, I don't lose things.
