I dumped 8000 halves today in four free machines and picked up 3 steel pennies, a chunk of Canadian and Mexican money, some Euro cents, English pennies and a Yuan with square hole plus some Arabic marked coins (and more) from the magnets.

After some huge silver hauls, I think I will be paying dues for a while.

    It's all good.

Back to sorting 100 years of pennies on the giant table.

    Went through 2 bags of cents. 19 40s and 50s plus 1927, 1918, and 1911. $100 in nickels had a 1939 and 17 other pre-1960.

I tried 50 rolls of halves with my wife. Considering that the teller friend of ours said she thought they had been searched, we were pleased that we still found one 40% (1968-D) and one proof 1999-S clad, probably PR63 with the light abrasions.

    Best Regards,

    George

I am a coin collector from the 80's when I was a young teen and have been from active all these years.....my friends joke is I married my wife because she was in banking..hahaha...over the years I have found alot of silver coins from her bank..I collect only US coins...anyhow I think it is funny how we start with pennies and go on to silver and gold coins and here I am at 42 and I am back into collecting pennies again...
I got a call from my bank about a customer who brought in 38 Dollars in pennies and would I be interested:confused:....duh...of course I would I bought them for face value and I found 7 rolls of 1970 S pennies in unc red condition plus all coins are from 1959 to 1968 all in original rolls from a bank called National Central Bank....Today same lady brought in 105 Dollars worth of pennies..teller called again..I told the teller hold them will pick up around 4 today....:kewl:

Got back into searching those $500 boxes of Kennedy halves and this week pulled 14-1964's out of one box all from the same collector's stash. How do I know they were from the same collector? They were all heavily tarnished and instead of seeing silver when I opened the rolls, I saw black edges. I don't know how they were stored but they all tarnished pretty badly. Fortunately, they still have the same melt value. Cha-ching! At about 7x face value they are worth about 50 bucks right now depending on silver prices. Cost me $7. Also found 3-40% silver coins in the same box, one 1972 proof, an Irish 1 pound "PUNT", and a 2003 D.

Anybody else still searching Kennedy halves?

I think that your post justifies me divorcing my wife and looking for a teller to marry.

Half dollar rolls have been not yielding very much silver lately. I might have to give it a rest for a while.

I have seached another 15 boxes since tuesday. Everytime I think I should quit, I keep going and I'm glad I did. I know I have to get past the dead spot in the stack at the bank.

I just did 15 boxes this week.

Only one Franklin but a tube of 64's and 75 40%ers.

I have it down for speed and have quite a bit of nice stuff for the collection books.

I have a bank who has refined speed dumping and I bring them brownies so they are happy when I come.

i just started roll searching yesterday. i got 20 rolls of halves and waited for my son to get home to start searching with him. i couldn't wait so i opened up a circulated roll that was machine wrapped. i found 2 40%! i was pretty excited.

when my son got home i showed him the rolls and the 2 coins i found. we opened the other rolls and found 15 40% and 1 90% in the 20 rolls searched. we were both pretty excited and i'll be bringing home more halves every week. i'm in socal and about 90-95 of the coins were D mints.

My Second Best Coin Roll Find!

So, this past weekend i was downtown doing errands and decided to check the banks for old half dollars, which i periodically do. I have not had much luck at these local banks, because we are a small town, but the tellers have come to know me, especially at the actual bank where my accounts are.
I visited the first 2 banks and struck out. When i went the bank i do business at, i made a special point to say hi to the head teller who knows me and my sons very well. She loves my 3 year old and had nothing but smiles for my 1 year old who i had decided to do my errands with. I asked her for halves, and she told me that she didn't have any. I was ready to leave when i figured i'd ask my usual question: "Do you happen to have anything else unusual? Ya know, anything different?"
She stops and says, i know you save halves, but a customer brought in 48.00 worth of the big dollar coins, do you want them? I figure these will be Ikes, but i take anything off of tellers' hands, because i want them to save everything for me! So i say sure! She goes to the vault and comes out with 2 clear Harris tubes taped shut with old masking tape. It's obvious someone has stuffed 4 extra dollar coins into each tube. Even from a distance i can see white edges!!!! So, i hand over 48.00 exactly, say a quick goodbye and take my son back to the car. Here's what i found:

15 Morgan dollars and 2 Peace dollars and 30 of the nastiest, dirtiest Ike dollars i've ever touched! I am speechless, totally stunned!

    1896-O
    1900-O
    1901-O
    1922
    1923-S

Once i got home and figured out what i had, i called the bank and asked for the teller. I made a point of telling her how much i appreciated her thinking of me, and slid in a request for her to call me if that customer ever brings any rolls of any coins in again.
Needless to say, this goes down as one of my top 3 coin finds from rolls! I won't get rich from any of these dollars, but the fact that i found not 1 but 17 at one time still floors me!

Finished a box of halves last night. Found a single 1967 kennedy. When I picked up my box I asked the teller if anything strange had come in and she said that some gal brought in a couple of 1888 dollars with four rolls of fifty cent rolls from the 30's. Just missed it, but it wouldn;t have mattered the tellers split the booty. The main teller told me it was sad, cause you could see the grand mothers hand writting on the rolls and it was obvious a collection.
